A must-visit restaurant for that authentic Québecois experience. A solid & varied menu of traditional French-Canadian dishes. The staff was very polite, upbeat & had a great sense of humour. All of our dishes were fantastic & we were served promptly. If you only go to one restaurant in Old Québec, make it this one.
Literally was the best restaurant that I have been to in Quebec City. I have tried the traditional French onion soup & the Shepherds pie & omg both of them were so tasty. The atmosphere was so good & cozy. Definitely recommended.
This place usually has a line up. I went early for breakfast & it was simply amazing. I had the French toast with caramel & caramelized apples. It tasted like heaven.

We went here for brunch. There was a short 5 minute wait & we were seated promptly by the very attentive staff. Our waitress was amazing! Very friendly, approachable & knowledgeable about the menu. Everything we had here was great! From the crepes to the French toast to the fresh fruits, nothing was generic; everything had a defining flavour unique to La Buche. The star of the show was the chicken & waffles... This is probably the best chicken & waffles I've ever had! It was amazing! We still talk about it. Overall this was a wonderful dining experience!
We had a great experience here! Loved the rustic & funky vibe & enjoyed our food. They had great options for gluten-free / celiac dietary restrictions, including gluten-free bread. Though no gluten-free baked goods, french toast, or biscuits. Our waitress was friendly & attentive. Also knowledgeable about dietary restrictions. This place felt joyful - like the people working there liked each other & what they do.
Incredibly busy brunch place. Despite that we had efficient & nice service & very nice food. The maple apple french toast was absolutely amazing & the added bacon was the best I've had
We can't speak for the dinner as we only had brunch, but boy, what a great brunch! My husband ordered the french toast with maple bacon & caramel sauce, my oldest & I each got the "Fat Guy" omelette, & my youngest ordered the Nutella waffles. Everything. Every single thing was delicious & the service was excellent. The ambiance is entertainingly niche, as if you entered a logger's cabin in the woods (appropriately so as La Bûche means the log). We are hoping to go back before leaving.
La Bûche was incredible! If I could give it ten stars, I would. The atmosphere was very cool & the staff were friendly & efficient. We sat on the back patio which was lovely. The food was INCREDIBLE. It was the best breakfast we had in Quebec! I had the French toast, which was the best French toast I've ever tried, & my husband had the Quebec crepes & bacon, which was delicious as well. We'll be back!
Place was absolutely packed - & the barkeep said it wasn't even a busy night, so be aware. Food was positively outstanding though, & honestly a big surprise. The deer tartare was unique & delicious, & the French onion soup blew me away out of nowhere - not sure what the cheese was, but it was pungent & almost like a Bleu...surprisingly perfect for it.
