Excellent ambience. Friendly, helpful waitstaff. We had 1 lunch & 2 dinners there over a 4 day trip. My wife & daughter had eaten there last year & highly recommended it. Reservations are a good idea especially for dinner.
Really friendly staff, great food, fun atmosphere. The poutine has some tomato in the gravy, which was an unexpected but tasty twist. The deer tartare was fresh & blended with a sweet-savoury mixture of well-balanced spices & mustard, with some toasted nuts sprinkled in for a little bit of crunch. Tourtiere was more shepherd's pie style with a puff pastry crust on top (which was more of a removable topping), & seasoned nicely. Both dishes came with generous field green salads, although the dressing they used for the salad with the tourtiere was a little sweet for my taste (salad with the tartare had more of a vinaigrette dressing). Onion soup was piping hot & generously laden with cheese & onions. For dessert, highly recommend'poor man's pudding' with ice cream, & maple syrup pie. Thanks to the tour guide we had earlier in the day, we knew what these were beforehand, else we might have missed it!'Poor man's pudding' is some white cake drowned in a caramel-like maple sauce that will make make your eyes roll up into the back of your head. The maple syrup pie had a semi-solid filling made from I don't know what (probably eggs, cream, & corn starch), but & wasn't overly sweet, & it was topped with mixed toasted nuts & a little maple syrup. The nuts definitely made it special. Just be forewarned about the unconventional bathrooms: rather than'men's' &'women's,' all the bathrooms are just individual little rooms with toilets in them, & then there's a common area to wash your hands afterwards, which consists of a bathtub with some pipes above it with valves, & you turn the valve & the water comes down. It's fun & funky, but definitely unexpected!
This is our 3rd year visiting Quebec City & our 3rd visit to L Buche. We love the fun vibe the energy of the staff & the excellent food & service. Our sever this year, Chris, was amazing. I highly recommend going to La Buche for great Quebecois food.
We went there without booking. We waited outside for about 5 minutes only. The place is really authentic with unique decoration. We stayed in the outside area, it was lovely but every corner of this place is unique.
We order a pea soup to start but unfortunately the main course came first. That wasn't a problem as e ate all together.
The food was excellent & the atmosphere vibrant. I highly recommend
We were a large group (18) with very little French language skills. The food, service, attitude of servers & the rhythm of how the meal
Was served was delightful. Apparently it was the first day on the job for one of our servers & he, too, was terrific. Communication over email in advance was prompt, friendly, & professional.
Highly recommended as an excellent'Québec culinary/cultural experience'
A wonderful place right in Quebec Old Town. The atmosphere is lively, service attentive & the food is great with plenty to choose from
Al in all, highly recommended
My family & I really enjoyed the food at La Buche. Everything was delicious, & we were very satisfied with our choices. The staff was very friendly. We would highly recommend!
