Celebrating my 40th birthday at La Bûche was an extraordinary experience that truly warmed my heart. From the moment we stepped inside, the cozy ambiance wrapped us in a delightful embrace, making us feel right at home.
For my meal, I chose the tartare de cerf, & it was nothing short of divine. The tender game meat was perfectly seasoned, complemented by fresh herbs & a hint of zest that danced on my palate. Each bite was a unique food journey, showcasing the chef's commitment to exceptional ingredients & creativity.
My husband opted for the shepherd's pie, & I must say, he was absolutely right in swearing by it. The rich, flavorful filling was nestled beneath a heavenly layer of golden, creamy mashed potatoes-comfort food at its finest. It was easy to see why he raved about it!
The attentive service added to the overall delight of our evening. Our server was knowledgeable & enthusiastic, enhancing our dining experience with personal touches & thoughtful recommendations.
La Bûche turned out to be not just a meal, but a beautiful memory-a celebration of love, flavors, & life. I can't recommend this gem enough. Thank you for making my 40th birthday so special!
Very traditional place with hearty food & great prices for the quality of dishes! The venison tartare was very tasty, slightly smoky, with caramelized walnuts. The tourtiere with beef, venison, pork & mashed potatoes was deeply satisfying. Service was attentive & friendly.
Wanted to try this restaurant as we were told it's exemplary of Quebecoise cuisine.
We ordered these:
Onion soup with bread
Beef patty with mashed potatoes
Pate chinois (braised beef with creamed corn & fruit ketchup)
Everything was high quality, tasted freshly made. Nothing was over done or too bland. I will say, the meal is fine for what it is. Coming from the US it tastes like a fresh/farmers market version of typical Midwest American food. Our favorite was the soup, the other dishes were good, but nothing particularly mind blowing.
Also if you don't eat pork there are limited options.
A true local favorite! This spot is always buzzing with energy-& for good reason. They're constantly serving up heavy hitters when it comes to flavor & portions. Every time I've stopped by, it's been packed with people who clearly know where to find good food. If you're looking for a place that lives up to the hype, this is it!
Where better to have a wonderful omelette or crepes than La Buch of Quebec City? Tea or coffee included which is nice. Friendly staff with enough English if you don't speak French. At least give a'merci' for tasty Quebecois brunch. Will do dinner next time I'm in Quebec City.
