I especially enjoyed the warm cider by the fire, follow with a warm rabbit cassoulet & the discovery plate. It's a lovely romantic little spot.
Pretty good meal. Had the poutine, French onion soup, cassoulet & rabbit saddle. The desserts are to die for!!!! Get the honey pie & crème brûlée. Best part of the meal!
Incroyable !
This extremely cozy & charming small restaurant in Quebec City is one of those places that transports you back in time with the rustic vibe & dishes & truly attentive service .
We had made reservations few weeks in advance & glad we did as this place will fill up quick .
The staff was very friendly & our waitress explained the menu to us . The menu does have a theme of rabbit based dishes & duck.
We asked for some gin based cocktails & she recommended some of the local gins to try & their flavor profiles . We tried the floral version of a Gin Tonic & the herbal version of their Negroni . Both were outstanding & went well with our main courses .
As it's not every day you find cassoulet on menus , we got both versions to try . The rabbit leg & the duck leg (not pictured) .
Their version is less heavy than other cassoulet but this is a good thing . The duck sausage is juicy & memorable as it sits on top of a bed of properly prepared beans & rustic cut carrots . Small pieces of lardon are caramelized adding their unique depth of flavor to the dish . Rabbit leg is well prepared & maintains its juicy flavor without having dried out . It's a challenging kind of protein that can easily dry out . It here ! They know their rabbit here !
A plus was our waitress asked about gluten free & could omit breadcrumbs on top of the cassoulet.
dessert menu we tried the maple syrup crème brulle which was light & maple tines shined though.
A great location & cozy restaurant that you need to visit.Make sure reservations are made in advance . Step outside after dinner at night & enjoy the prime location & charm .
The venue is well lit, small & cozy, a refuge on a cool autumn evening. The wait staff are warm, welcoming, & attentive. It was easy to dine here with limited French language skills, as the wait staff were bilingual & also good humored about rusty, high school French. Both the menu & wine list were thoughtfully composed to reflect some of the highlights of French & Quebecois culinary cultures. The food was outstanding. The plates were artfully presented & composed with layers of complementary flavours. The duck fois gras & the cassoulet (with confit duck leg) were both absolute show stoppers. The suggested wine pairings were also delicious. Le Lapin Saute is absolutely worth traveling out of one's way to visit. Reservations recommended.
Cozy little restaurant with many duck & rabbit entree choices you can't go wrong with
Would highly recommend the Taste of Quèbec appetizer & their cassoulet was one of my favorite dishes we've had in the City!
Our first time to Quebec City & we had a wonderfully memorable dinner out at this lovely restaurant.
Everyone was very welcoming . Sara, our server, took excellent care of us & was spot on with her suggestions . We started off with a Rose Cider, light, refreshing & bubbly. We wanted to taste a variety of food so we shared the Quebec discoveries plate for two & a delicious mixed salad with strawberries, & then shared the Cassoulet with Duck Sausage & confit duck leg. For dessert , we shared a piece of their amazing signature Honey pie that was so creamy, & just the right sweetness. Merci Beaucoup.
Second night of three in Quebec & this restaurant was great. We had a shared starter of rillette, cheese & other goodies followed by a rabbit casserole. My wife had the prawn & seafood cassoulet. Atmosphere was great & we talked to people on either side of us. Just a lovely friendly place with excellent food & service!
We were welcomed without a reservation & our server was helpful & friendly. We had rabbit poutine & onion soup to start - both packed with flavour. Next we both had the cassoulet with duck leg - again packed with flavour & huge portions. It's was a little meat overload - but when in Quebec City right? For dessert we shared the maple creme brûlée which was divine.
