I don't even know where to begin. At first I was worried this would be a tourist trap, as its location is in the heart of Old Quebec City. I am so happy I was wrong. This restaurant definitely tops as one of the best restaurants I've eaten at. We started with the French onion soup & salad. For dinner we ordered the steak frites & salmon dish. For dessert we ordered the honey pie & another.
The best French onion soup we've ever had. I would go back time & time again just to order it! The starter salad was simple but perfect. I often am disappointed with salmon dishes ordered at restaurants, however, their salmon dish is so dimensional in flavors & textures - exactly what I look for in a dish. The steak frites were also dimensional in flavor, however, it did unfortunately come out chewy.
The honey pie took my husband & I by surprise & we will continue to rave about how tremendous it was. We both went home on a high from how great our dinner was that night.
The staff was also great - attentive at just the right amount. They were also very accommodating about allowing us to bring our baby stroller to our table when our baby got tired & fussy.
Cannot wait to return back the next time we're in town!

Excellente découverte ! L'ambiance est agréable, le service attentif sans être envahissant, & la cuisine soignée. Les plats sont savoureux, bien présentés & les produits de qualité se sentent. J'ai particulièrement apprécié le plat principal & le dessert, qui étaient vraiment réussis.
Les prix restent corrects pour le niveau. Seul petit bémol : l'attente a été un peu longue entre les plats, & la carte des vins aurait pu être un peu plus fournie.
Sinon, c'est une adresse que je recommande sans hésiter. On y retournera volontiers.

The food was excellent from the start to the end. We had an appetizer that a variety of tasty morsels, 2 main plates & a dessert. All very satisfying & filling. The rabbit pot pie was very good, mild tasting between a chicken or duck flavor. I would go again to try the other rabbit dishes.

This little gem in the old quarter has maximum ambience. We were seated on the patio which I loved for people watching. The service was slow but this was not the servers fault - but rather the kitchen having a large number
Of orders. We shared a share platter & then shared desserts. It was a heat wave so we didn't feel like a heavy meal. My children got the $14 kids menu & it is elite. Amazing value & the food was so so tasty. No chicken nuggets at this amazing venue. One child had the poutine & the other the salmon & both were beautifully presented & seasoned.

I'd go back again the servers were helpful , kind & informative. You have to dine in the old town - & this was a perfect choice. The crème brulee was absolutely amazing. As were the truffles. Rabbit & duck aren't really my thing but I didn't dislike it & I'm glad I had some of the local cuisine

Lovely little restaurant. Charming ambience & delicious food. We had the cassoulet with the rabbit leg, french onion soup & the summer salad. Everything was so good. My favorite was the dessert...salted honey pie. One of the best desserts I have ever had!

The food was nice, except they forgot to wash their greens. I can still feel the sand between my teeth when I think about the evening. The server was quick to understand & empathize. She quickly offered 1 complimentary dessert for the sandy chard in 3 of our dishes.
My husband ordered a stuffed Lapin which he really liked. I ordered a grilled salmon which was good too.
We also ordered their mocktails & drinks which were good too.
The ambiance was very cozy. We sat outdoors. The old Quebec city streets are beautiful in the evening. We could see them from our seat 💜

What an exceptional meal at Le Lapin Sauté!

During our visit to Quebec City, we had lunch at Le Lapin Sauté, & it was easily one of the highlights of our trip. From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed.

I ordered the rabbit poutine with mustard sauce, & it was absolutely out of this world. The rabbit was perfectly prepared, tender & flavorful, & the mustard sauce brought everything together beautifully. I also had the cassoulet with duck & sausage, & it was nothing short of spectacular-rich, hearty, & packed with deep, comforting flavors. It was one of those dishes that reminds you why classic French-Canadian cuisine is so beloved.

We also shared a salad that was fresh, beautifully prepared, & absolutely exquisite. For dessert, I tried the far Breton, which was the perfect ending to an outstanding meal-delicious, authentic, & wonderfully satisfying.

What made the experience even more memorable was the service. Our waiter was incredibly friendly, welcoming, & generous with his time. I speak French, & my partner is currently learning French, so it was especially meaningful to be able to converse with him & learn more about life in Quebec City. He made us feel comfortable, encouraged the conversation, & added a personal touch that made our visit truly special.

The food was genuinely high quality, & every dish reflected great care, skill, & attention to detail. Combined with the warm atmosphere & exceptional hospitality, Le Lapin Sauté delivered one of the best dining experiences of our trip.

Thank you to the entire team for such a wonderful afternoon. I wish you continued success & look forward to returning the next time we visit Quebec City.

A great experience but be sure to book a table if you want ensure a table. We sat outside in the warm evening but be aware you cannot reserve a table outside. We were lucky as there was a table for two free. We ordered the table d'hote which gave a discount on three courses plus tea or coffee afterwards. The meal wasn't rushed we were at our table for two hours & the food was excellent. I had the smoked herring for starters which was fabulous my wife had smoked duck. We both had rabbit for main which was substantial & some lovely vegetables with it. We both had creme brûlée for dessert which was divine. A great evening 👍
