Reservations are a must if you don't want to wait.
There were many tables inside packed super close to each other so it got pretty loud.
We had the cheese fondue for appetizer - the melted cheese tasted ok. It was not runny even when it sat for 15-20mins & the bread had a light garlic flavour. (6/10)
Then we tried the Quebec Discoveries - the two duck items were my favourite as they were very savoury. The only thing I didn't like were the onions (8/10) & Rabbit Pot Pie - the crust was flakey but not buttery as I had hoped. The rabbit meat is tender like chicken but I didn't love the flavour of the soup. It was more on the mild side (7/10).
We ended it off with a Poached Pear - I don't like pairing fruits with chocolate or anything sweet so I didn't really enjoy this dessert. The pear was not sweet but it had a light cinnamon taste. (3/10)
I would definitely come here again to try their other rabbit & duck dishes.
I found this place through Google search for highly rated restaurants in old Quebec City & it did not disappoint. When we got to the restaurant, it was almost 12pm, as we didn't have a reservation, we were told that there would be seats available at 2pm. Very busy during the peak of summer! The inside & the patio seating area aren't very big so it fills up easily.
We ordered a rabbit poutine, French onion soup, rabbit leg & a kid's meal of salmon. The rabbit leg is excellent, I love the sweet potato puree. The beans & peas are soft, flavourful & plentiful. The onion soup was on the saltier side for me but if pairing with the rabbit leg, they go well together. We wanted to try at least one poutine dish while at Quebec so ordered the rabbit poutine as the restaurant is known for rabbit dishes.
The kids' menu is great & reasonably priced. It comes with a soup of the day, main, dessert & drink for $14. The portions are big enough to fill an adult. The soup is watermelon & veggie mixture, nice & cold on a hot day. We ordered a salmon dish & it came with a generous portion of salmon, lots of fries & peas & beans. Very healthy & tasty option for the kids.
The minor complaint is that the table is a bit small, it would have been okay if adults were dining, but with young kids, it feels a bit cramped.
Love the vibe of the street & the patio looks out onto a small park. Will be back when we visit Quebec again!
We had dinner here on two different nights while staying in Quebec City. We also stopped in for dessert on a third night. This place is magical. Catherine was our waitress two of the nights offering great service. She is a gem. The bartender also came over to share information about one of the liqueurs that we ordered. (Racines -an anise liqueur) He is very knowledgeable about the alcohol they serve at Le Lapin Saute. I wanted to eat here every night that we were in Quebec City. Our waitress on our last night was also very kind & knowledgable.

Our first time to Quebec City & we had a wonderfully memorable dinner out at this lovely restaurant.
Everyone was very welcoming . Sara, our server, took excellent care of us & was spot on with her suggestions . We started off with a Rose Cider, light, refreshing & bubbly. We wanted to taste a variety of food so we shared the Quebec discoveries plate for two & a delicious mixed salad with strawberries, & then shared the Cassoulet with Duck Sausage & confit duck leg. For dessert , we shared a piece of their amazing signature Honey pie that was so creamy, & just the right sweetness. Merci Beaucoup.
Our server Pascal made the experience most enjoyable & one we will not soon forget! His recommendation for the rabbit & duck platter for two paired with a delicious pinot noir followed with honey pie for dessert left all plates empty without over indulging. I highly recommend this restaurant but make reservations at least a week in advance.
We were welcomed without a reservation & our server was helpful & friendly. We had rabbit poutine & onion soup to start - both packed with flavour. Next we both had the cassoulet with duck leg - again packed with flavour & huge portions. It's was a little meat overload - but when in Quebec City right? For dessert we shared the maple creme brûlée which was divine.

Des plats raffinés & copieux, tout était très bon, de l'entrée au dessert,
C'était bien mais sans plus surtout pour le prix.
Le service était aléatoire, sans l'impression que les serveurs se parlaient entre eux. Au début, nous nous sommes faits demander 3 fois en 5 minutes si nous étions prêts à commander. Arrivés au dessert, nous avons dû poireauter 15 à 20 minutes après avoir fini de manger avant de nous faite débarasser & demander si nous voulions un dessert.
La nourriture était bonne, mais pas excellente. Ma soupe était tiède & mon cassoulet, même chose. Les goûts étaient bons, mais j'ai eu mieux ailleurs pour des prix similaires
L'ambiance était bien par contre. Chaleureux, c'était plaisant surtout en la température qu'il faisait

Nous avions reserve pour 2 personnes, sur recommandations de proches.
La reservation se passe bien. La table est prete un peu avant l'heure.
Acceuil correct. Tout de suite, le'patron' nous recommande leur plat'signature':'Tout lapin, tout canard'
Plat a partager, a 79$ (le plus cher de la carte).
La description du plat fait envie: Une cuisse de lapin, une cuisse de confit, legumes, pomme de terre, toasts, 3 sauces, foie gras, rillettes de lapin etc ...
Le plat arrive. Visuel decevant, contenu de l'assiette minable: Pour 2 personnes: 1 petite cuisse de lapin, 1 petite cuisse de confit de canard, 3 cuillere a soupe de haricots vert & petits pois, 1 demi tranche de foie gras, 1 cuillere a soupe de rillette de lapin, 3 pauvres feuilles de magret de canard, & 2 ails ecrasés.
Bilan: Pour 2 personnes, ca frise le ridicule !
Les viandes sont froides & seches. Les legumes sont froids & peu nombreux. Si on enleve les 3 ramequins de sauces, & le support de toasts, le vide s'installe dans l'assiette pour deux !!
Bon, comme nous ne sommes pas du genre ralleurs, on dine sans vraiment de conviction.
La serveuse nous demande comment etait notre diner. Je lui explique avec courtoisie mais determination, que ce plat n'a rien d'un plat signature, & lui exprimons notre deception point par point. La serveuse nous ecoute & nous entends. Elle nous propose des desserts, un digestif. Nous declinons.
Le meilleur reste à venir ... La serveuse nous depose l'addition. C'est a ce moment, que le'guignole de service' (& je pese mes mots), le patron, vient nous voir. Je me dis:'Chouette, un restaurateur qui prends soin de ses clients'. Pas du tout. Sans un mot, il se contente de deposer sur la table son terminal de paiement. Je lui demande si il a eu vent de nos remarques ? Rien, aucune reaction, tel un poisson mort. Il consent a nous dire que tout le monde adore son plat. Bref, un mec borné, arrogant, qui se ferait virer a coup de pompe dans le derriere s'il mettait les pieds dans une cuisine francaise.
Pour conclure. Si vous aimer les'plats' froids, mal cuisinés, chers, assipides, sans saveurs, rechaufés, & si vous aimez un'patron' imbu de sa personne, persuade d'etre la reincarnation Quebecquoise de Mr Bocuse, n'ayant aucune consideration pour ses clients, tout comme ses plats. Allez y ! Vous serez au bon endroit.
Il vous faudra malgre tout, tendre l'oreille pour entendre votre partenaire de galere, car le patron (le guignole), a le verbe haut, hurlant de ci, de ca, comme pour tenter de compenser le vide sideral de ses plat par des râlee de caribou en rut, telle une poissonniere sur le port de Marseille.
A defaut d'avoir diner, ce commentaire vaut bien 79$ !
