It would be 1 star but only 3 stars & above are displayed for the public. First of all, the food is inventive, amazing & overall fantastic. We loved each of our courses, & would give the food 5 stars. However, they would get 1 star for service. Upon arrival, there were 2 parties ahead of us. The host didn't acknowledge our arrival & went on to seat the parties ahead of us, rightfully so. However, once those parties were seated, the host once again didn't acknowledge us & instead asked the couple who arrived after us & were standing behind us in line how he could help them. After we finished our first course, the same host cleared our table & we waited. Eventually, the waiter came back asking if we had room for dessert, so we had to remind him that we never got our main courses. In general, the service was awful. We watched much of the night as the host & the servers were attentive to other guests, while we sat & waited most of the eve only to have our main courses forgotten. We didn't bother with dessert. The food was great, but the entire experience was unfortunately tainted with the terrible service we received.
An absolutely wonderful experience at Bistro L'Orygine. Visiting to celebrate our anniversary, this was a highlight of our trip o Quebec City. From the beginning, it was clear this would be a special experience: not only did they call ahead to confirm our reservation, they were able to adjust by a day because my partner was feeling ill on the day of. Bistro L'Orygine also took steps to accommodate a Gluten Free request as part of their Vegan tasting menu. Not being a gastrophile, & thus unable to give an "educated review" of the food, let me say this: each plate & pairing of the Discovery Menu (one of us had the vegan, the other omnivore) was absolutely wonderful. Each dish was prepared with care, the flavours really highlighted a balance of local fare, & the plates were a perfect size. The broth & noodles were cravable, the duck was perfect, & the squash dessert was so flavourful.
Each pairing was perfect. The service was impeccable. While "pricey," (it's a dinner in Old Quebec City, so please expect that!), it was incredible value for the meal & experience. We'll visit again on our return to Quebec City.

Excellent service, but a slightly elevated price. We had the vegan 5 course tasting menu. The naan & tempeh dish was simply amazing, but the other dishes didn't keep up with the level of taste. The strawberry & pavlova dessert was way too sweet. But overall a very good experience!
