Farm to table style. Food is impeccably presented & the service is outstanding. Great ambience, delicious food & an extensive wine list. Dishes are customisable accordimg to dietary preferences. Highly recommended.
Bistro L'orygine is the epitome of what a dining experience should be!
The atmosphere is calm & inviting -yet entirely sophisticated; setting the perfect stage for what is about to transpire...
L'Orygine is without doubt one of my top 3 favourite culinary experiences of all time. The service provided by their team (both occasions I've visited - 8 months apart) were warm, professional & passionate. As someone, who delights in craftmanship of chefs & mixologists - to have each dish presented with such kindness, pride & enthusiasm is 100% 5-star treatment.
The food itself. On another planet! Chef Sabrina is an genius/artist - to create perfectly balanced dishes using the ingredients & methods she chose is nothing short of incredible. I could not get enough! Not a single dish passed without me mourning that the experience was over - because each dish was THAT GOOD. Everything was portioned, & cooked to perfection. I was literally smiling while I took each bite.
& how could such food be enjoyed without equally divine pairings? We will never have to know! Because L'Orygine delivered! My husband did an alcoholic pairing & I did a mocktail pairing to get the most variety & assess how in sync this restaurant truly is. Conclusion is they are a vibe! Every. Single. Drink. Was. Art. We were both blown away.
I can't even begin to fathom how Gabriel; their mixologist creates such visually stunning & equally delicious drinks. Each drink to enhanced the tasting experience; not distracting or diminishing the beauty of each unique dishes' flavours - flawless execution.
Easily my favourite mocktail pairing I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing. & I've had some solid pairings.
The entirety of L'Orygine was perfection & I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an accessible experience in the ultra stunning Québec City. I know for a fact my husband & I will be visiting L'Orygine again during our next trip to QC, & I'll be recommending it to anyone & everyone who will listen to me.
If you go for a date night, birthday, anniversary, promotion, work function, literally solo & by yourself ENJOY IT! I'm pretty sure that's the only option experience they serve.
We wanted to try this fine dining restaurant since the review seems great but our experience was just so so.
We try many dishes but only a few catches our attention.
We have experienced an excellent French Quebecois cuisine using local ingredients. All the dishes are amazingly complex with tastes. We ordered the two desserts, Confit Apple Doughnuts & Elderflower Panna Cotta are both demonstrated the chef mindset of creating unorthodox tastes interwoven together. Amazing!
I loved the 6 course vegan tasting menu! I appreciated the use of seasonal ingredients & the use of textures throughout the dishes. The service was exceptional, & the space feels elegant & cozy. I'm glad this exists within Quebec City! Will definitely return!!
I don't usually write reviews, but after dining here, I couldn't sleep without sharing my experience. I hate that it has set the bar so high for other restaurants, & I wish I could visit more often (first time in Quebec City). The Ambiance: Aesthetically pleasing & incredibly cozy, without feeling cramped in the slightest. The Food: Chef Sabrina Lemay is a culinary virtuoso. The harmony of interesting flavors invites you to savor each bite mindfully. The availability of well-executed vegan versions of many dishes (priced fairly, based on substituted ingredients) is a phenomenal, inclusive touch & a refreshing departure from the afterthought vegan options seen in many restaurants. They even managed to make raw oysters appealing to those averse to their texture. The Service: The best service I've ever received. The staff were professional yet warm & welcoming, ensuring everything was catered to with care & impeccable timing, without ever feeling intrusive. I never had to call on them once. On my way out, every waiter I passed wished me a good evening-despite being busy with other tables. We ordered fresh oysters, braised seitan & sunchoke, confit apple doughnut, & drinks. We also loved the complimentary amuse-bouches & mignardises, as well as the coupon for two free drinks during Sunday brunch. Looks like we'll be canceling our reservation elsewhere for Sunday & heading to l'Orygine instead. Update: We did go back.
Our hotel concierge booked a last minute reservation for us at this amazing restaurant! We ordered the Raw & Cooked Oysters, Roasted Duck & Smoked Squash, the Guinea fowl & cauliflower & a vegan pasta dish. Be careful not to order dishes with repeat ingredients together. All dished were in huge portions. This restaurant is highly recommended!
A culinary delight tucked into a side street just one block away from the port. The ambience was elegant, quiet & perfect for our 26th anniversary dinner. We decided on the a la carte menu. The first course was fried ravioli stuffed with caramelized sweet onions. A perfect palate preparation to enjoy with our wine. Just one each which was also perfect This was followed by cooked oysters - I ordered six, next time I will order a dozen - the boar bacon & jalapeno pepper complimented the oysters & au gratin, an exciting combo. Next, my favorite dish, the Tataki de veau & courge fumee. (Veal tataki & smoked squash) the veal was perfectly seared with an apple balsamic drizzle. The fumee was creamy & flavorful. I might have a double order of this next time, as an entree. Last was the guinea fowl & cauliflower, another inventive combination. It had a nice symphony of flavors & textures, I loved the crunchy sage semolina & cauliflower puree. I thought the fowl could have used a little more spice on it but that's just preference on my part. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his order of raw oysters, his third course was the arctic char, he commented that it was a new flavor for him that he would like to try again. Fourth course: He says the halibut was lovely & nicely prepared. He would have liked the pasta & red sauce served separately from the white sauce accompanying the halibut. Everything was fresh & organic. Would have loved to watch these dishes being prepared. The restaurant was full you may need a reservation depending on the day. We were there on a Thursday & were seated without one. Service, the restaurant staff were professional, friendly & personable. Put this one on your itinerary!
