This lovely bistro was located just around the corner from our excellent hotel (Auberge Saint Antoine) in the Old City of Quebec. Coming in from the cold we were met with such a marvelous warm staff, delicious food & a soothing atmosphere. We opted for the tasting menu. All the dishes came from the menu. It was a terrific way of sampling a wide variety. I'll warn you: it is a lot of food, so come with a full appetite if you go that direction. Stand outs are the cocktails & a lovely veal sweetbreads dish. This a place where you'll want to linger ...save some time to savor it all.

Always an absolute pleasure to all senses when I dine here! I especially love being seated at the bar, as it is so fun to watch the mixologist at work! The barman is especially friendly & engaging (Gabriel). The waiters know the dishes to a tee! The food is just divine & a party for your tastebuds. Well located. Beautifully decorated, such a complete treat. Thank you for making my friend's birthday so special!

Best meal my wife & I have ever had. My wife is Vegan so the fact that many of their dishes have a vegan version is huge. Someone nominate these folks for a Michelin Star. Incredible!

What a treat this was! We did the omnivore tasting menu with the “oryginal” wine pairing. Most of the dishes were some of the best I’ve had ever at a restaurant. The eggplant tacos, halibut, & duck were favorites. Pumpkin cake with raspberries & cream was delectable!! We loved the introduction to wines from the region. The herbal mint/parsnip tea was a surprising welcome at the end of the meal. Veal crudo was a bit of a miss for us but that could be a matter of personal preference. The staff worked together to serve & they were polite & informative, but they seemed as if they had been there for a while & just seemed tired. Lovely, lovely outdoor patio set in this ancient Old Quebec building. So idyllic. From where we sat, we got a glimpse of the St Lawrence river but there were other tables that had a more direct view. I can’t wait to return when we make another trip here soon!! Until then, Thank you for a wonderful evening!

Excellent! Bistro L'Orygine continues to be our favourite place to dine. The Discovery menu is one treat after another, & a surprise every season. Fun, fresh, innovative dishes full of imagination that delight the senses. What could be better!

This restaurant was recommended to us by our neighbors who visited QC a few years back (BC...before Covid) & raved about the service, the food, & overall ambiance. Since this was our last night at Le Chateau Frontenac (& my wife's birthday), I made a reservation (close to a year ago) to celebrate her special day. We took the funicular down to the lower part of QC & strolled to Bistro L'Orygine. We were greeted at the reception desk by the owner himself &, since it was quite hot, we opted for an inside table. He told us a bit about the history of the restaurant & made us feel at home.

We started out with a glass of champagne for my wife & I went with an expertly prepared dry Ketel One Martini (up with a twist). We then ordered a dozen grilled oysters (with their own Rockefeller style flair)...simply divine, For the main course, my wife went with their lobster/cavatelli dish & I ordered the duck breast / kimchi plate. Both dishes were out of this world. The owner, bartender, & waitstaff made for a most memorable dining experience which ended our stay in beautiful Quebec City on a very high note. Merci Beaucoup!

Very good restaurant. The staff are great - very knowledgeable & welcoming. The tater menu was amazing with the standard wine pairing. The attention to detail in the dishes is fantastic. An overall fantastic experience.
