Stunning! My goodness, the decor in this place is outstanding! 10/10! Very elegant & beautiful, perfect for a date night! The food was tasty, definitely made with really high quality ingredients & the plating was done so beautifully. I did find the portions a little smaller than I'd like, but I enjoyed the experience that the food brought me. Have you heard of a show called'the menu'? Ya, this place is right up there when it comes to flavours & giving you an experience. Our server explained every single thing that he served & answered all of our questions. It's extremely pricey for a vegetarian meal, but the experience really pushes it over the top & worth it at least once. Give this spot a shot!
I don't usually write reviews, but after dining here, I couldn't sleep without sharing my experience. I hate that it has set the bar so high for other restaurants, & I wish I could visit more often (first time in Quebec City). The Ambiance: Aesthetically pleasing & incredibly cozy, without feeling cramped in the slightest. The Food: Chef Sabrina Lemay is a culinary virtuoso. The harmony of interesting flavors invites you to savor each bite mindfully. The availability of well-executed vegan versions of many dishes (priced fairly, based on substituted ingredients) is a phenomenal, inclusive touch & a refreshing departure from the afterthought vegan options seen in many restaurants. They even managed to make raw oysters appealing to those averse to their texture. The Service: The best service I've ever received. The staff were professional yet warm & welcoming, ensuring everything was catered to with care & impeccable timing, without ever feeling intrusive. I never had to call on them once. On my way out, every waiter I passed wished me a good evening-despite being busy with other tables. We ordered fresh oysters, braised seitan & sunchoke, confit apple doughnut, & drinks. We also loved the complimentary amuse-bouches & mignardises, as well as the coupon for two free drinks during Sunday brunch. Looks like we'll be canceling our reservation elsewhere for Sunday & heading to l'Orygine instead. Update: We did go back.

Our hotel concierge booked a last minute reservation for us at this amazing restaurant! We ordered the Raw & Cooked Oysters, Roasted Duck & Smoked Squash, the Guinea fowl & cauliflower & a vegan pasta dish. Be careful not to order dishes with repeat ingredients together. All dished were in huge portions. This restaurant is highly recommended!
Great dining experience, the food was very tasty & the service was as good & welcoming as. Great vegan options on the menu, the ingredients are mostly sourced locally.
Absolutely amazing experience. Staff weee outstanding...friendly welcoming, knowledgeable. They took the time to inform us about the menu & all the locally sourced ingredients. The food was so nicely presented & flavourful. Highly recommend.
The menu changes based on what is available. The service was excellent with staff explaining all the ingredients & preparation of the dish. The wine pairing was great. The warm hand towels before the meal was a nice touch. Everyone in our group loved their food. Be certain to book a reservation.
I'm in the difficult position of being both a vegan & a foodie (as much as I hate that word). It's difficult enough finding fine vegan dining in other places & I found Québec City to be especially lacking in vegan options in general. My partner & I chose L'Orygine for our early Valentine's Day dinner while visiting the city because of the ambiance & the unique vegan offerings & we were NOT disappointed! We both opted for the vegan discovery menu - 6 courses, plus an amuse-bouche, each one phenomenal & totally unexpected. These people really know how to play with taste, texture, & visuals, & the quality of the ingredients (I think they said 90% of the food was locally sourced) really shone through. Everything was clearly thought out, right down to the matching of the plates to the look of the food. My favorite dish was probably the cannelloni with tempeh & maitake mushrooms, but it's so hard to pick. The quality of service was great too. We had multiple servers throughout the evening, but it was coordinated instead of disorganized, & each one was lovely. They were all attentive & professional while still being very personable. My partner has some hearing loss in one ear which one of the servers caught on to & offered to speak louder for him which he really appreciated. The service was bilingual as well, although of course each server will default to French unless they realize you speak English - it's a French speaking province after all! We found ourselves speaking English with some of them & French with others which we enjoyed (my partner speaks it quite fluently, & I'm a learner who appreciates getting to practice my understanding without being totally alienated). The one thing I would have changed was where we were seated. There's a smaller dining room in the back of the restaurant where the decor is not quite as refined as the main dining room & we were sat in the furthest corner of it. We actually came to appreciate the privacy of the corner but it was a little puzzling considering we had a reservation & walked by plenty of other open tables... to be fair we may have been looking a little rough & underdressed after walking around the city all day so perhaps they didn't want us to take away from the scenery in the front ;) However, there was a very large & very loud group of people sitting in the back room with us which detracted from the experience. I would have preferred being sat in the main dining area but it wasn't bad enough to sour our meal. All in all we agreed it's one of the best meals either of us has had in recent memory & we'd recommend it to anyone visiting the city. I'd even suggest to omnivores that they try the vegan discovery menu. The chef lets the plants speak for themselves instead of trying to change them into something they're not & I think that's something the restaurant world needs more of. I hope to come back one day & see how the menu changes!
L'Orygine was thoroughly impressive. From the moment I stepped in, the service was impeccable. The staff were attentive, friendly, & knowledgeable about the menu. Now, let's talk about the food. It was nothing short of amazing! Each dish was expertly crafted with local, fresh, high-quality ingredients, bursting with flavor & beautifully presented. From appetizers to desserts, every bite was a delightful journey for the taste buds. The menu was a true journey. L'Orygine exceeds expectations with its top-notch service & delectable cuisine. It's definitely a must-visit for anyone seeking a memorable dining experience.
