Wow!!! Quel endroit extraordinaire! Nous y sommes allés 3 fois en 2 jours tellement nous avons aimé l'endroit! D'abord, un petit apéro sur la magnifique terrasse. Excellente recommandation du serveur qui est tombé pile dans mes goûts! Ensuite, un petit lunch toujours sur la terrasse. Le sandwich est délicieux, bien garni, pain croûté avec une bonne bière bien fraîche c'était parfait! Pour terminer, la totale: menu dégustation pour le souper. Le meilleur menu, nous avons été ravis à chaque plat! Explosions de saveurs, découverte de produits, textures variées & goût incomparable. Portions généreuses, service impeccable, tous les serveurs sont d'une telle gentillesse & d'un tel professionnalisme ! Rapport qualité prix tout à fait raisonnable! Nous avons déjà payé beaucoup plus pour beaucoup moins & surtout pour sortir en étant extrêmement déçus alors que là, c'est tout le contraire, un sans faute, impeccable 5🌟 sur toute ligne! Nous avons ADORÉ! Nous répéterons l'expérience & nous recommandons à tous! Trop hâte d'essayer l'expérience La tanière lors de notre prochaine visite!
We've experienced great vegan fare in London, Brugges, Bucharest, Tallinn, etc but none were as exceptional or memorable as L'Orygine! The atmosphere is modern & very cozy. A really awesome vibe to it & an opportunity to watch the bartender mix his creations right from our table. The service was outstanding!! The waitstaff were all very engaging & could not do enough for us. Very friendly & quick to fulfill our requests. We enjoyed the 6-course Discovery menu. Not only was each dish visually appealing but each was unique & exceptionally pleasing to the palate. Some very creative fare. I could continue on for many more paragraphs but suffice it to say that L'Orygine is a must visit dining experience when in Quebec. Highly, highly recommend!!
I'm in the difficult position of being both a vegan & a foodie (as much as I hate that word). It's difficult enough finding fine vegan dining in other places & I found Québec City to be especially lacking in vegan options in general. My partner & I chose L'Orygine for our early Valentine's Day dinner while visiting the city because of the ambiance & the unique vegan offerings & we were NOT disappointed! We both opted for the vegan discovery menu - 6 courses, plus an amuse-bouche, each one phenomenal & totally unexpected. These people really know how to play with taste, texture, & visuals, & the quality of the ingredients (I think they said 90% of the food was locally sourced) really shone through. Everything was clearly thought out, right down to the matching of the plates to the look of the food. My favorite dish was probably the cannelloni with tempeh & maitake mushrooms, but it's so hard to pick. The quality of service was great too. We had multiple servers throughout the evening, but it was coordinated instead of disorganized, & each one was lovely. They were all attentive & professional while still being very personable. My partner has some hearing loss in one ear which one of the servers caught on to & offered to speak louder for him which he really appreciated. The service was bilingual as well, although of course each server will default to French unless they realize you speak English - it's a French speaking province after all! We found ourselves speaking English with some of them & French with others which we enjoyed (my partner speaks it quite fluently, & I'm a learner who appreciates getting to practice my understanding without being totally alienated). The one thing I would have changed was where we were seated. There's a smaller dining room in the back of the restaurant where the decor is not quite as refined as the main dining room & we were sat in the furthest corner of it. We actually came to appreciate the privacy of the corner but it was a little puzzling considering we had a reservation & walked by plenty of other open tables... to be fair we may have been looking a little rough & underdressed after walking around the city all day so perhaps they didn't want us to take away from the scenery in the front ;) However, there was a very large & very loud group of people sitting in the back room with us which detracted from the experience. I would have preferred being sat in the main dining area but it wasn't bad enough to sour our meal. All in all we agreed it's one of the best meals either of us has had in recent memory & we'd recommend it to anyone visiting the city. I'd even suggest to omnivores that they try the vegan discovery menu. The chef lets the plants speak for themselves instead of trying to change them into something they're not & I think that's something the restaurant world needs more of. I hope to come back one day & see how the menu changes!
Le service est seulement incroyable, plein de petites attentions pour les clients (serviette chaude, verre toujours plein, petite douceur pour la route, etc.). Ils se spécialisent dans les produits Québécois presque qu'à 100% de leur menu (jusqu'au savon dans les toilettes). Un régal, je recommande le menu Découverte, ca vaut la peine. Chaque bouchée est une explosion de saveur. Jamais mangé une option végane aussi bonne.

Menu découverte avec les accords de vin & ce fut exquis du début à la fin! Belles recherches dans les plats & les vins! Le serveur était excellent. Par contre, deux fois les plats sont arrivés avant le nouveau service de vin & il me restait du vin du tour précédent...ca gâche le moment quelque peu. La soirée était parfaite quand même! Je recommande fortement!
Nous sommes allés bruncher ce dimanche, nous avons opté pour la formule dégustation & nous n'avons vraiment pas été déçus. Les serveuses étaient aux petits soins pour nous, les quantités étaient copieuses & les présentations des plats parfaites. Je vous recommande fortement cette expérience, nous y retournerons assurément.
I can't say enough good things about this restaurant! The first time we went was for New Year's Eve in 2019 at the recommendation of our hotel's concierge, & we were absolutely blown away by the quality of the food & service. We went again this week with friends of ours (also for NYE), & once again, it was absolutely excellent. We had some dietary restrictions to deal with, but the chef was incredibly accommodating, & we had no issues getting delicious meals that met our respective needs. In spite of it being a 7 or 8-course tasting menu with various dietary restrictions, everything came out well prepared in a timely manner. The only thing that I think was better last time around was the mocktail pairing menu. In 2019 it felt like the mocktails were a little more flavorful & way less sweet, which I preferred, but other than that, everything was delicious & very creative. I highly recommend L'Orygine & wouldn't hesitate to go back again!
