L'Orygine offers a remarkable dining destination in Quebec City, celebrated for its creative use of fresh, local ingredients and a thoughtful approach to seasonal menus. Many guests praise the elegant atmosphere and the meticulous attention provided by the staff, who are frequently noted for their warmth, professionalism, and ability to accommodate various dietary restrictions with care and creativity. The discovery tasting menu, complemented by both wine and non-alcoholic pairings, stands out as a highlight for many visitors seeking a refined culinary journey. While experiences can vary based on individual tastes regarding flavor intensity and pacing, the restaurant remains a favored spot for special celebrations and those looking to explore innovative, locally focused gastronomy.

We had a large group of 9. We sat at the festive round table in the middle. We all ordered the tasting menu with the wine pairing. Everything was excellent. The scallop ceviche & the venison stood out but all courses were unique, fresh & so tasty! The wine pairings were perfect. Our service was attentive & informative & fun! We thoroughly enjoyed our evening! Our only disappointment was hoping to sit on the terrace but due to the rain we could not & our table inside was very festive!

Amazing meal! We enjoyed the chef omnivore tasting menu paired with really interesting wine choices. Each food course - carpaccio, lobster bisque with turnip purée, tender venison was perfectly balanced & not over prepared. Wines of excellent quality - burgundy white perfect, cab from okanagan so good! & space beautiful, highly recommend!!!

The food & the place is amazing. It is pricy specially the wine . Local Canadian wine with lowest price around $60 & then above. Seems to be a little out of range

This was the most creative & best tasting restaurant we visited in Quebec City! Farm-to-table fare at its best. The wine list was lovely, too-- loved trying out a Canadian Pinot Noir. Very knowledgeable & friendly service as well. Overall, a must for food lovers who travel to Quebec City.

Excellent knowledgeable staff who welcomed us with genuine enthusiasm. The restaurant space is an inspired design. Wine selection is extensive but the sommelier gave us great advice steering us to a northern Italian Pinot Noir that fit our price point.
However the 5 course discovery (Chef's) menu — beyond the oyster starter & the fun & novel visit to the "dessert bar" — was very disappointing, trying way too hard to be inventive with complicated concoctions that not only missed the mark, but it was sometimes difficult to even understand what "the mark" was supposed to be. For example, the first plate was some kind of celery root kimchi with mashed potatoes (or creamed celery?) with a potato crisp & a taste of smoked bison on top that not only did not come together, but rather just completely confused. Next came a rye risotto that reminded me of a suburban housewife's attempt at vegetarian chili; again, the takeaway was "I don't get it?" The main plate black duck with a kale & mushroom stir-fry side was "meh". Perhaps we were expecting too much since we knew this was a Legende sibling. Next time we'll hit the beautiful bar at L'Origyne & maybe try a few small plates instead of diving in head first.

Not five stars only because of the price. Although I would change this to a five if the wine was organic.

Food, wine list & friendliness of staff were outstanding. Speed of service was extremely slow (we had been seated for one hour before the first plates were served). Overall it took two hours for us to consume two plates. Portions are small so plan on 2-3 plates per person. Bread is only served upon request. We were disappointed that the "discovery" tasting menu is only served if all members of a dinner party select it. We had two of four who desired it but were unable to.
