Great wine, amazing lasagna, but check the ingredients! Matto boasts a stellar wine selection & a vibrant atmosphere. Vegetarian warning: the Minestrone soup contains pork. Luckily, the Lasagna is an elite backup choice-the tomato sauce is incredibly rich & flavorful, making a perfect pairing with the complimentary bread. The Crab Rolls were also a massive hit for my husband. Highly recommend for the pasta & wine pairings!
I'm not sure how this place is so highly rated. The three dishes we had; mushroom pasta, risotto, & lasagna were below average. The first batch of bread we were served was cold & stale. Most concerning, the wine by the bottle is terribly expensive & of very low quality. The markup to these is unreasonable. There were no less than three bottles on the menu for $90 -$95 that were very poor grade & can be found for about $20 at a store. Service was prompt & very friendly.
My partner treated me to date here on our last night in Quebec City, & what a treat it was! The service was amazing, especially from our waiter David. He didn't even blink at the fact I don't speak French well enough for a conversation, & engaged my partner in the art of Franglaise. Always around when we so much as thought of him, David was attentive & always had a smile on. He also recommended a lovely wine that I regret not getting the name of.
We didn't wait long at all for our food, which was surprising given how busy it was! My partner got the eggplant Parmesan that looked lovely, albeit a bit small in portion compared to my spaghetti & meatballs. Both dishes were equally delicious though, as were our desserts of tiramisu & Italian chocolate ice cream.
Food was good, the pizza was good, but lacking salt. Got short changed on my wine because they poured the last of the bottle & did bother to top me up. Bread was promised not delivered. Overall chaotic & needlessly slow.
We arrived on time for our 6pm reservation which has a time limit of 2h. We finally were able to order our wine after 20min. It took 80 min to get our appetizer & shortly after our main course came & the plate which included clams which were dry & tasteless. Management appeared to ignored a large boisterous group that spoiled the atmosphere. We felt rush despite the delay in receiving our meals when manager started to set up for the next seating.

We loved our meal & our server was friendly & helpful. She was also excellent with the wine recommendations
Main course prices were also reasonable. Cesser salad was superb & they had gluten free pasta options which I had. It was delicious
Our only small issue was took awhile to get food but it was a busy evening. I have no hesitation to recommend Matto
Brought my family for my husband, mom & dad's birthdays & we had a wonderful experience! Our waiter Patrick was wonderful, the food was delicious per usual & the wine recommendation was spot on! Can't wait to come on our next visit.
The food & wine were amazing. Everyone besides our server was fantastic. Our waitress was horrible & impacted our evening's enjoyment. She wasn't very pleasant. We had to catch her eye several times for water, & we had to order another glass of wine from someone else, & she made it a bad experience. I am unsure if I would recommend Matto or return after our experience.
What a wonderful find in Quebec City! The food, drink & ambiance was incredible. I live in QC but my family comes from Italy. The food & wine selection is on par to anything I would eat & drink in Venice. I must also mention that the service as excellent. Our server, Theo, was knowledgeable, attentive & most important, personable. We will return to the restaurant not only for the food, but also for the excellent service we received from Theo!

The best funghi papardelli pasta ever! Suppli was a small portion but tasty. Bread - amazing. Good wine. Good service. Loud atmosphere on a Saturday night. We will return on our next visit to Quebec!
Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious - calamari, veal marcella, seafood pasta with marinara sauce & cannoli. Our waiter was attentive & make wonderful suggestions for both the email & wine. Highly recommend!
I found Matto searching online, the reviews caught my attention. Matto was amazing. We are foodies & always searching for the next fabulous meal, usually dinner. We traveled with our friends from Barbados for their first time in Quebec. They frequently dine back home at incredible restaurants. They enjoyed their meal at Matto;s, immensely. Our only complaint (I dislike the word complaint) was it took a bit too much time for our waiter to take our wine order & receive it. You know when the wait is a little too long when you're searching for the waiter. I believe, most people want to receive their beverage fairly soon after being seated (10 minutes) perhaps. To sip on a great wine, enjoy the surroundings & cheer the end of a great day. I am not familiar with Italian wines. Good wine descriptions would been a bonus. A good description helps you to imagine the taste. The same with food descriptions. The ingredients describing a food item helps to imagine the taste, then once in front of me, I eat with my eyes. Would I return to Matto, HELL YA.
Fantastic, fresh Italian with a fun, high energy atmosphere. We shared fried calamari appetizer. My husband had veal scallopine, which he loved. I had amazing papparadelle with mushrooms & white truffle oil. The pasta was paper thin & perfectly done. Good variety in the menu. Nice options on wine list. Good value. Portions were very generous, so sadly we could not fit in dessert. Our server Mary Soleil was very efficient & friendly, even offering suggestions for the music festival in town at this moment. The manager was attentive & all staff seemed very on point. Very nice dinne
