About

Queues de castor specializes in the iconic Canadian pastry made of hand-stretched fried dough shaped to resemble a beaver tail. These signature treats are topped with a wide array of sweet garnishes ranging from classic cinnamon and sugar to decadent chocolate spreads and fresh fruit toppings. The preparation process involves deep-frying the dough until it achieves a perfect golden crispness while maintaining a soft and chewy interior texture. This establishment focuses exclusively on providing high-quality portable snacks that cater to those seeking a sugary indulgence. Patrons interact with an efficient counter service model designed to facilitate the rapid assembly of these popular fried pastries. The menu emphasizes consistent quality and traditional recipes that define this legendary sweet snack heritage across the country with every hot and freshly prepared serving.

Review Summary

Queues de castor is widely celebrated as a quintessential destination for visitors and locals alike in Old Quebec, known for its iconic fried pastries and satisfying poutines. Guests frequently praise the variety of delicious, indulgent toppings and the consistent quality of the food, which serves as a comforting treat during a stroll through the Petit Champlain district. While the establishment is highly regarded for its friendly and efficient staff who manage busy crowds with professionalism, some reviewers note that the dining area can be small and crowded, occasionally making it difficult to find a place to sit. Despite the high demand and occasional wait, most experiences are described as warm and memorable, making it a highly recommended stop for those with a sweet tooth or anyone looking for a classic Canadian snack.

Must try if you're visiting Canada, beavertails🦫 are a unique treat to have as a snack, but can be rather greasy & you can't eat much of it. No coriander.

Fried dough, chocolate, maple, & sugar; what's not to like? We got mEHple & Hazel Amour, & they did not disappoint. A must get experience while in Canada.

Beaver tails for after dinner or anytime of the day! It is so good that we went back for second before leaving Quebec City. Nice cosy shop & staff prepare the warm crispy crust with your pick of toppings from maple syrup to peanut butter with smarties! A must try when in Quebec City, Canada.

Une expérience locale, il faut y goûter au moins une fois, de passage au Canada. Pas la peine de prévoir un repas après, les queues de castor sont très riches & régressives, mais c'est finalement tout l'intérêt du lieu
