Ordered the duck for myself & salmon for my sister. Overall food quality was just okay at best & quantity was barely substantial for the cost. The server was responsive to our ordering requests & at the end of the meal I provided a 10% gratuity of the total bill as my appreciation for the sever & not so much the food. However I was accosted by the server for not providing 15% or more because waiters are paid less than minimum wage in Quebec. I appreciate them telling me their story & the realities of labour in Quebec but the overall encounter was distasteful. Will not be returning.
I wish I could say something positive about my experience, but unfortunately, there wasn't much to it. We started with the soup of the day, smoked duck breast, & a dessert. The soup arrived after a half hour wait, & it was just okay. Then, the real wait began, almost an hour after the soup. Finally, our main dish arrived, cold & tasteless. I couldn't tell if it had been cooked fresh or not. The meat & vegetables were unappetizing, & I barely finished my meal. I waited for our dessert, but when it finally arrived, the soup seemed like the highlight of the meal. We didn't finish our dessert & decided to call it a day.
A fantastic experience with a great view over the river. For those whose complain about wait times, welcome to fine dining, It's not McDonald's. You have a properly trained chef & staff making your meal with precision & passion. These things take time & they do it as an art, take the time to talk to whoever you came with & if you get bored of them in that time maybe it's your own fault.
The food was fantastic, we enjoyed the artisanal bread to start & both got the highly recommended duck as our main. Cooked & season perfectly. To finish we had the tart which was a unique & very tasty combination
Both the smoked duck breast & the smoked salmon were outstanding.
What impressed me most was the style of smoking - very subtle & restrained, quite different from heavier, more forward smokiness. The aroma doesn't hit you immediately; instead, it slowly unfolds as you chew, becoming more complex & expressive with each bite.
The duck breast had a fascinating texture - firm & pleasantly chewy, sitting right at the edge of where it might turn dry, yet never crossing that line. It's not overly juicy, but beautifully balanced, with the smoke carried gently through the duck fat.
The smoked salmon was equally refined, with a clean, elegant smokiness that deepened rather than dominated. Nothing overpowering - just quiet confidence & excellent technique.
Thoughtful, precise cooking that rewards attention. Truly memorable.
