A great speak-easy style bar with signature cocktails. You enter through a black doorway behind the hostess for the neighboring restaurant. A bonus is that all their mixers are made in Quebec, so you are experiencing the beauty of the providence too.

Before our dinner at Tanière³, my fiancée & I stopped into Vieux Carré for some pre-dinner cocktails, & it was an absolutely fantastic choice! I believe it's part of the same restaurant group, & you can tell by the quality. The bar is connected to Bistro L'Orygine & the space itself is just beautiful - very elevated, stylish, & incredibly inviting. It has a sophisticated New Orleans kind of feel.

The staff were brilliant. They were really engaging, offered excellent suggestions, & even convinced me to try Absinthe for the first time, which I surprisingly enjoyed! It was a cool experience. The cocktails themselves were top-notch, expertly crafted & delicious.

Vieux Carré is definitely a great spot. Whether you're looking for a sophisticated date night location or a place for fantastic cocktails with friends, this hits all the right notes. Highly recommend checking it out when you're in Quebec City!

People use the term'speak easy' as a guide to greatness but this bar, well it should be what every speak easy should be measured against. You have no idea the joys that are on the inside by the outside, but once you cross the threshold you are transported both back in time but with an elegant nod to the present & to the farm to table mentality of its parent restaurant down the stairs.

Cocktails which are hand crafted from ingredients & alcohol only from the province. Staff who are personable, educated & articulate.

Drinks that are clever but easy to be around. Not pretentious, classic is the word to use.

Please go, but reserve, it's Quebec City's hidden gem. We will absolutely be back.

Première expérience au Vieux-Carré & surement pas la dernière. Super service de Gabriel le Chef Barman & mixologue, qui prend le temps de nous amener ailleurs avec ses connaissances & de bien expliquer les produits servis. Travaillant moi-même en restauration, je suis quand même picky & exigeant sur la qualité du service & de l'expérience, mais les prix sont justes & le service A1.
