Alphonse Cuisine & Cocktails emphasizes a culinary approach centered on fresh seafood and handmade pasta preparations. The kitchen utilizes traditional techniques to highlight the natural qualities of Atlantic fish and locally sourced ingredients within a structured bistro environment. Patrons encounter a menu defined by balanced flavors and precise plating that reflects a clear commitment to consistent food preparation. The facility houses a bar program focused on refined cocktails designed to complement these oceanic and starch-based offerings through intentional flavor pairings. Efficient service standards prioritize the delivery of plates that showcase textures and seasonal compositions across every item served. This establishment maintains a focus on the essential components of bistronomy by prioritizing technical execution over complex presentation styles while ensuring that each course meets specific quality benchmarks for consistent flavor delivery.
Alphonse Cuisine & Cocktails is widely appreciated for its beautiful atmosphere, chic decor, and prime location in Quebec City. Many patrons highlight the exceptional quality of the food, with standout dishes like the steak frites, mushroom ravioli, and fresh salmon often receiving high praise. The establishment is frequently recognized for its creative, chef-inspired menu and an impressive selection of cocktails. While experiences can vary, many diners report receiving warm, attentive, and professional service, particularly when sitting on the charming terrace. It is considered a popular and vibrant spot, making it a highly recommended choice for those seeking a memorable dining experience in the heart of the old city.
I give 3-stars as a neutral rating. As I have not tried this establishment but have tried to enter with my kids. Unfortunately, our family got turned away on Dec 26th during lunch time. Just to save time for those with little kids to please avoid this place as Alphonse's reasoning is that they do not allow children due to bar permit.

A late night delight, Alphonse served me & my brother some much much needed comfort food. Braised beef on a bed of cheesy mash with veg & gravy. Waitress was excellent & the atmosphere full of charm. One to remember!
We had a Le Financier & a Margarita pre-dinner & Carbonara & Mushroom Ravioli for our main courses. Everything was excellent & the service was also excellent. We would not hesitate to recommend Alphonse, or go again ourselves.
Highly recommended esp if you want a refreshing break from tourist fare in a chic, friendly setting. The menu is smaller, more focused & intentional than many of the area restaurants, because they are not trying to be all things to all people. We had afternoon or late night snacks, lunch, dinner & a nightly cocktail there. We also dined across old & new Quebec City, & we kept coming back to Alphonse. Fine modern fair for a reasonable price compared to some of the surrounding restaurants. Favorites: Brussels sprouts Caesar salad (salade Cesar aux choux Bruxelles), a refreshing take on Caesar salad, & a very welcome break from American-style fried Brussels sprouts, ubiquitous at pretty much any American bar/restaurant these days! The burrata with peaches - fab for burrata fans. Loved their pasta carbonara - I wish I could make mine this creamy. (Be sure to pair it with the Cosimo Taurino Salice Salentino Rosso riserva!) Wine list: balanced, quality essentials. Cocktails: try the Financier (old fashioned adjacent but more fun) or their version of the aviation cocktail (j'ai oubliè le nom). Dessert: we had our share of chocolate while out & about so we greatly enjoyed the non-chocolate Framboises & basilic (dense little cake with tantalizing raspberries & basil creme). & the staff were truly lovely too. The location was perfect, close to all Artisans walk, shopping in pretty much every direction & just up the hill the Chateau Frontenac. Hang out & enjoy the fountain show at the plaza across Rue des Jardins.
Unbelievable Experience & Food! My girlfriend & I stayed in Quebec City for 4 nights. We stopped by Alphonse on Night 1 & it was so delicious that we ended up eating here again. The charcuterrie board was to die for. French Onion Soup perfectly executed. The Roasted Salmon with Couscous was divine & perfectly seasoned. The chocolate pear dessert was perfection. Wait staff was also amazing. I will definitely be back when I visit again. I was so thoroughly impressed. Thank you so much for everything!!! YUM!!!
