We really enjoyed this restaurant in the heart of Old Quebec! The food was absolutely amazing! We tried two soups, split pea & the chef's soup, both delicious! We devoured them immediately, so no pictures, sadly. We shared the grandma's plate with meat pie & a variety of sides, everything was so full of flavor & incredibly delicious! For dessert, we had thr Maple Syrup Pie & the Maple Syrup Bread Pudding, amazingly packed with flavor!
Our server was very attentive, cheerful & ready to fill our water glasses each time he stopped at the table. We felt very spoiled by his friendly attention.
The atmosphere is extremely charming, combining old & modern features & decor. & don't miss the bathrooms! A cute little closet with unique features!
Highly recommended this spot, its the oldest French building in Quebec & offers amazing food & service!
Unpretentious in all the right ways. An absolute legend of a restaurant.
Excellent restaurant. We came here wanting to try Québécois meals & they were very good. The dessert (dessert of the moment) was especially good. Overall, loved this place!
Food was delicious & full of flavor. The service was warm, friendly, & attentive throughout our visit. The restaurant has a charming old-world atmosphere that really brings the history & character of Old Quebec to life. A great place to enjoy traditional Quebec cuisine in a unique setting. Definitely worth a visit!
Very nice overall & the lunch special is $40 with wine, entree & a maple syrup pie. I feel that I drank a whole bottle of maple syrup eating the pie, but it was so good that I'm still think about it a week later.
Exceptional food, but terrible atmosphere & judgmental service
?The food was absolutely incredible, even extraordinary! If you want to try local game meats like bison & deer, I highly recommend it. However, despite the amazing food, the physical conditions of the restaurant & the attitude at the end of our meal completely ruined the experience.
?On a day when it was 31°C outside, we chose to sit indoors expecting AC. However, the upper floor had no working air conditioning at all, making it extremely hot & humid. On top of that, there is only one restroom available, causing long lines.
?At the end of the night, we paid a bill of $200+. When it came to tipping, we left an amount based on our preference, keeping in mind that service fees are already part of the business model & extra tipping is fundamentally a voluntary gesture of appreciation. Our waitress clearly did not like the amount & judgmentally asked if there was a problem. When we said everything was fine, she snatched the payment, left without saying thank you or a single polite word, & completely ignored our table for the rest of the time.
?Being judged over a tip is unacceptable. Go for the food, but be prepared for a rude awakening at checkout if you don't leave an aggressively high tip.
We had a Cesar salad, Gramma's special (meatballs & meat pie) & Salmon pastry with veggies.
The food was good. I really wish it wasn't either 4 or 5 stars. This would be 4.3.
Service was good - seems quite standard in Quebec's tourist areas.
The building is unique, old & has a great atmosphere.
