It's definitely worth the drive to Quebec City. The staff are amazing, the food outstanding. Highly recommend 🇨🇦
Really authentic experience. The food is cozy. Perfect for a cold day. Great service. Mom & pop feel.
A beautiful introduction to some tradition Québécois dishes in the oldest building in Québec City. Highly recommended!
Everything I was hoping for in this experience. The staff are charming & seamlessly accommodating my English language preference. The menu is exotic yet accessible, & it's why you can't miss this venue.
Here's an updated version of your review that naturally includes the friendly, chatty waiter while keeping the critique focused on the food & fixed?price menu.

Review for Aux Anciens Canadiens - Fixed?Price Menu
Overall: 4-5/10 - friendly service, disappointing food.
I chose the fixed?price menu, which looked like great value at first glance. In reality, the meal felt random & didn't come together as a coherent plate.
The main course - Grandma's Treat, a Québec meat pie (seemed mostly pork) - arrived with a mix of sides that didn't complement each other: meatballs with gravy, vegetables, potatoes, beetroot, sweet ketchup, & beans with molasses. I'm not used to meat dishes being paired with sugary components, & the sweetness clashed with the savoury elements in a way that made the whole dish feel unbalanced & heavy.
About 40 minutes after eating, I felt queasy - very unusual for me, as I normally enjoy all kinds of food. The flavours were muddled, the textures didn't work, & the overall preparation didn't sit right.
To be fair, the service was genuinely pleasant. Our waiter was friendly, chatty, & made the experience feel welcoming. Unfortunately, the food didn't match the warmth of the service.
The restaurant has charm, but based on this meal, I wouldn't return.
Food was amazing, the special they had for lunch was very affordable & came with plenty of food. Felt like a very fancy restaurant. Great & fast services!
