We try to visit this exceptional restaurant at least once a year. It's definitely worth the drive to Quebec City. The staff are amazing, the food outstanding. Highly recommend 🇨🇦

En virkelig fin oplevelse, omgivelser meget autentiske og med en skon atmosfaere. Vi fik en tre retters menu med valg af ol og vin. Disse retter smagte fantastisk og stedets tjener var med til at gore oplevelsen fuldendt. Varme anbefalinger om, at besoge Aux Anciens Canadiens hvis I kommer forbi Quebec City🍁❤?

Review for Aux Anciens Canadiens - Fixed?Price Menu
Overall: 4-5/10 - friendly service, disappointing food.

I chose the fixed?price menu, which looked like great value at first glance. In reality, the meal felt random & didn't come together as a coherent plate.

The main course - Grandma's Treat, a Québec meat pie (seemed mostly pork) - arrived with a mix of sides that didn't complement each other: meatballs with gravy, vegetables, potatoes, beetroot, sweet ketchup, & beans with molasses. I'm not used to meat dishes being paired with sugary components, & the sweetness clashed with the savoury elements in a way that made the whole dish feel unbalanced & heavy.

About 40 minutes after eating, I felt queasy - very unusual for me, as I normally enjoy all kinds of food. The flavours were muddled, the textures didn't work, & the overall preparation didn't sit right.

To be fair, the service was genuinely pleasant. Our waiter was friendly, chatty, & made the experience feel welcoming. Unfortunately, the food didn't match the warmth of the service.

The restaurant has charm, but based on this meal, I wouldn't return.
