We were looking for a place to eat at 4 after missing lunch. The restaurant we were considering was closed until 5, so we continued down the road & found that Aux Anciens Canadiens was not only open but still had the lunch prix fixe prices. It is possible the dinners are larger, but the lunch was more than enough for us. We shared our meals with each other & were able to try pea soup, smoked bison fondue, meat pie, meat ball ragout, & deer, bison & elk tenderloin with a lovely blueberry sauce. For dessert, we had maple syrup pie & maple bread pudding. Everything was very good & we felt like we had the perfect culinary review of classic Quebecoise foods. We could have chosen the poutine, but we were concerned that we were not going to make it to dessert & since the woman behind us was telling her friend that this place had the best maple syrup pie, we didn't want to risk it.Voir plus

We came here after a long walk in the city. It was freezing & wet outside & one could feel cozy & warm immediately walking inside this little authentic house. I got exceptional food & service for what I paid. I enjoyed this creamy fish fillet a lot, the stewed vegetables inside were well seasoned & the tenderness was just right. Hope I will bring my parents here someday!Voir plus

This restaurant is a must on your visit to Quebec City. What an excellent dining experience. This place is on all the recommended eating lists for a reason. We didn't have a single bad bite the entire dinner. The set menu has so much choice & is very reasonably priced for all that you get. Service was also amazing. We started with red wine which I actually enjoyed & I'm not a wine person at all, followed by apps, my partner ordered the beans, I had the escargot. Fresh, warm buns were brought out quickly each time we asked. Our soups were pea & french onion, both delicious. For our mains, I tried beef Wellington & he got the special of the night which was the turkey dinner. My beef Wellington had some kinda appley sauce that I wasn't sure about at first but everything paired so nicely together. It very much tasted like home cooking but in the best way. Very homey, full of comfort. For dessert we tried the bread pudding & maple creme brûlée. Some of the best creme brûlée ever! I will return on my next visit to the city. Can't say enough good things.Voir plus

Beautiful old building with wood carvings on the main level restaurant. We were a party of 9 seated in a private room on the second floor. Unfortunately the chicken cordon bleu & the salmon were overcooked. Our friends who has tortierre & other traditional dishes were very pleased.Voir plus
This place is unexpectedly good! I didn't pay much attention & assume this is one of those touristy restaurant. Turned out to be a great night with the onion soup, escargots, seafood platter & lovely dessert!!! Overall, it's a nice dinner we had.Voir plus
Ce restaurant n'est pas bon marché, mais le service est très bon, la nourriture est délicieuse & l'ambiance intérieure est super sympa ! Mais il n'y a pas de place de parking recommander This restaurant is not cheap, but the service is great, the food is delicious, & the atmosphere inside is super! But there is no parking space recommendedVoir plus
