Le Galopin, situated inside Hôtel Sépia on Chemin Saint-Louis, delivers a wonderfully warm & refined dining experience that seamlessly bridges relaxed neighborhood charm with upscale culinary craftsmanship. From the moment we stepped in for dinner, the staff made us feel right at home with their exceptionally warm service. We had our two kids with us, & they delightfully accommodated us, ensuring every detail of our meal was taken care of seamlessly.
?The ambiance is intimate & tastefully appointed, creating an inviting backdrop that works just as well for a family dinner as it does for a romantic evening out. It's wonderfully family-friendly without sacrificing any of its polished atmosphere, making it a rare gem where dining with little ones feels effortless & welcome. The kitchen grounds its menu in contemporary French & regional Quebecois cuisine, earned through a standout lineup of signature wild game tartares, rich sweetbreads, & impeccably balanced seasonal entrées.
?The beverage & dessert offerings elevate the experience from a great meal to a truly memorable occasion. The bar program shines with inventive, handcrafted cocktails-ranging from elevated classic martinis to craft creations infused with local Quebec spirits like artisanal gin & maple liqueurs. Complementing the bar is a thoughtfully curated, imported wine list featuring exceptional Old World vintages that pair effortlessly with the rich menu. To cap off the evening, indulgence comes easy with decadent house desserts, from their silky signature seasonal crème brûlée to rotating pastry inspirations & sweet local treats.
This restaurant is beautifully renovated, & located within the hotel. Although my family did not stay at this hotel, the restaurant is open to the public. We came here for breakfast which is offered until 11:00am (on Monday).
Portions are good, & coffee is included in your breakfast. The potatoes were crisp on the outside while soft & fluffy on the inside. I ordered a meat casserole (skillet) & it came with a good portion of meat & cheese.
One small complaint is that there appeared to be only one server for the whole restaurant: she was our hostess, the server, & the busser. Le Galopin was understaffed & so the service was a bit on the slow side.
I would definitely recommend Le Galopin for its high quality breakfast at a reasonable price.
On comprend pourquoi.
We went to Le Galopin, located inside Hotel Sepia. What a gem! Once we arrived, we were happily greeted by the staff & got seated quickly. Because this is a pretty upscale restaurant, there is quite a wait before the waiter comes to take our order. While waiting, we looked around the restaurant: quite small, elegant with a quiet & warm atmosphere. Our waiter was skilled & really nice. We began with the Sea & Charcuterie Board appetizer. Presentation is unmatched! The tastiest part was the thinly sliced octopus, it was out of this world! For the main course, I ordered the Smoked Duck & Game Tartare, since tartares are the restaurant's specialty. Let me tell you, it was unbelievably tasty! Melted in your mouth with ton of flavor. For the dessert, I got the Crême Brûlée, & I wasn't disappointed! Every part of this experience left me pleasantly surprised! Will definitely come back.
