Excellente nourriture, ambiance feutrée & confortable, service un peu lent mais impeccable, un serveur d'expérience, bon choix de vin. Excellent endroit pour manger & relaxer.
Une discussion avec notre serveur nous a permis d'apprendre que cet établissement est ouvert depuis 30 ans. La clientèle est principalement locale, malgré la juxtaposition à l'hôtel Sepia. On comprend pourquoi. L'ambiance est feutrée, mais reste conviviale. Le menu semble court, souvent le signe d'une cuisine de qualité (& c'est le cas). Les plats offerts sont diversifiés (boudin, ris de veau, bavettte, poisson; ne cherchez pas le burger) & présentés avec goût. Je me suis régalé avec la morue, & ma conjointe a adoré le duo de tartare (spécialité de la maison). Nous avons été bien conseillé pour le vin. On y retournera sans hésiter.
Habitué du Galopin, pour la 1e fois j'ai été déçu. J'avais invité 2 amis. Tartares manquait de condiments & de goût
Salade ordinaire, pas de tomates, concombre ou autre. juste des feuilles & vinaigrette très légère , frites congelées

Ce n'est plus comme avant, voila une couple d'années. Entrée avec huitres mal nettoyés, plat principal poisson trop cuit, mais dessert bombe chocolat vraiment excellente. Service plus ou moins présent pour ajouter de l'eau ou du vin. Mais prix d'aujourd'hui. Pas une catastrophe, mais nous avons été déçu de notre souper d'anniversaire.
Agréablement surpris de trouver ce restaurant dans notre hôtel. Trop fatigués pour sortir manger, on a décidé de l'essayer & vraiment pas déçus de notre choix. Bon du début à la fin. Les choix de vins incroyables & le personnel très chaleureux.
l'expérience culinaire était extraordinaire comme je m'en souvenait. l'ambiance est bien mais l'acoustique pourrait être mieux (étions à côté d'un groupe de 8) c'était bruyant. peut etre placer les groupes aux extrémités ? carte des vins & choix de demie bouteille interessant mais aurait avantage à avoir des bouteilles plus abordable. merci

A friend & I came across Galopin just by chance in November 2016. The restaurant was so unassuming, staff unobtrusive & subtle, yet so efficient & friendly. The meals we'd chosen blew us away. It was the best dinner experience for both of us in years.
Since then, I'd often recommended Galopin to friends who planned to travel to Quebec City.
This time I visited Quebec City with my spouse, it was a birthday weekend! The planned highlight: Dinner at the Galopin. I was looking forward to it with such expectation.
My wife is 100% non-alcoholic & is gluten free. We couldn't find gluten-free option that did not include alcohol. Wait staff didn't really seem to be motivated. We felt rushed, as if accommodating these needs would be asking too much.
So, her choices were very limited. Finally she settled on steak, which was ok - if on the cold side. We'd rate it at a 8/10. But this was the steak only.
I'd rate my own dinner at a 5/10. The starter (Sweetbreads) was a 6.5, the interim salad a joke [really a 'minus one'] as the lettunce leaves were dried out & flavourless, there was not enough dressing & ,in addition, our server did not even bother to ask if anything else was needed. My main dish was blood sausage with with scallops. The scallops were fine, but the additional items on the plate were rather flavorless (5 /10). The dessert was too dry & the apple flavor in the 6 little spots on the plate was recognisable, but just neglectable in dimension (3/ 10).
The Rose Vine (Portuguese) was fine & presented at the right temperature. A good choice. My coffee was excellent.
Given my high anticipation, it was a disastrous evening. I was so disappointed.
La salade était très colorée. Elle avait un beau visuel. Mais la vinaigrette qui l'accompagnait était fade & peu goûteuse. Ça fait deux fois que j'y vais & la salade demeure sans goût. C'est uniquement cette partie qui est décevante.
