If you have no dietary restrictions, personal preferences, or timetables, then this restaurant (& its unknowable tasting menu) are probably a great bet for you. If you don't fit into this mold, you may be as miserable as we were. I will say that the food (when it eventually came out an hour & a half later) was very good, & the supporting staff was very nice, but that's where the positive notes end. The a la carte menu only has "medium-sized" options that are neither appetizers nor entrees, they refused to accommodate our dietary restrictions (which would have only entailed cooking the food in something simple like olive oil, rather than adding their sauces), & if you ask for bread to hold you over until your food comes, you'll be told repeatedly that it's coming with the meal. All in all, it took us 2.5 hours to get a dozen oysters, one "entree" each, & a grossly under-poured glass of wine. By that time, we were all starving & aggravated, & the staff seemed utterly unperturbed by our obvious frustration. Save your money & go to L'Echaude or L'Orygine, which are also fine dining restaurants that actually care about their patrons' experience.
Honestly, one of the world's great restaurants. The food is extraordinary, using local ingredients to astonish in the complexity of flavors. Each bite is an incredible & delicious adventure. The service is unmatched in its friendly attentiveness. The pacing was perfect & the experience as comfortable as home. The sommeliers really know their stuff -- we stuck to only Canadian wines, & we had a terrific range of reds & whites that could compete with the best from any of the world's more famous wine regions. I have dined at many of the best -- Noma, Alinea, Eleven Madison Park, French Laundry, Sonnora -- & Legende more than holds its own in the quality of food & service, & it's more relaxing & approachable than any of them. I cannot sing enough praise about this restaurant.
Delicious meal full of the unique tastes of Quebec City from the amuse bouche to the dessert. Wine pairing was spot on. Service was spectacular every step of the way, an exceptional feat on such a busy night! What a New Year's Eve! 🥳🎉 Thank you!!!

OMG is the best phrase I can use to describe the food & service at Legende. This is world-class dining at its finest in Quebec City. Probably the best oysters on the planet. Be sure to try the five course fixed menu as it is their specialty & whatever other recommendations staff may make. The employees are really knowledgeable on the wine pairing choices, for example. 95 percent of the food is locally or regionally sourced & therefore fresh & tasty. Presentation & service were also impeccable. A little on the expensive side of course, but if you go easy on the wine, it can be reasonable. A once in a lifetime culinary opportunity for me. Highly recommended for foodies or just anybody who wants to enjoy superior dining.
Food was ok. The server was so not showing any enthusiasm at all, it was a total vibe killer. They served us champagne in a wine glass & when we asked for changing into a flute, the server seemed shocked & there was an awkward silence for a few seconds as if it's a weird request to have champagne served in a flute!! The server helpers who explained the food were a lot more helpful & cheerful when we interacted with them & asked them questions. The oysters don't really taste like oysters! They don't serve lime or lemon with them & they are just very spicy & unpleasant. Oysters must be sour in my opinion & when asked for lemon/lime, the server said they don't have anything "international" in their restaurant that's why they don't lemon/lime, while Ontario & Québec produce over 70% of Canada's total lime. Lol. *Overall very disappointed.
Had a wonderful evening sitting at the bar. Jean-François' hospitality is second to none. Great cocktails. Glorious wine list. Warm & welcoming staff. Food to match all of that. Will be back for more!
We have dined in other fine restaurants in Quebec, but our meal at the Légende was superior to all the others. The food was perfect: It was both delicious, beautifully presented & the portions were generous. The selection of wines to accompany the various courses was perfect. Thank you!! We'll be back.
We are from Mtl & I booked the Legende because I had a perfect experience last time I wanted my father in law & my mother in law to try it. Overall it was an amazing experience. The food was outstanding & the sommelier presenting the wine & the server presenting the food were super gentle, professional & passionate making the experience even better. However, the hostess gave a very bad first impression making people at the table to feel uncomfortable. I understand it was a complicated table with many restrictions for the menu degustation, however she could just suggest that the best option for us would be the a la carte. Instead she made uncomfortable comments about the restrictions/allergies of people in the table, such as you should first try instead of saying you don't like it. Maybe where you ate before was not well done. A bit offensive.
Our dinner was a wonderful experience. The wine list is extensive & the chef's preparations were amazing. The sauces & ingredients blended to create a truly enjoyable evening. Thank you to all your staff!
