It really was just okay. The place was busy, no problem, but the tables are too crowded together & I really dont like when restaurants take the liberty of sitting couples together with strangers. It was very loud. Wait staff were polite enough. Food was just okay. I expected better for the price. It seemed a bit like the wait staff were bothered that we didn't order drinks.

we stayed at Hotel 71 in Quebec city & this lovely little restaurant was attached to it.
The food was excellent. The staff is outstanding Dany, was able to squeeze us in for a lovely dinner with three of our friends & our waitress, Vanessa was outstanding in attentive overall this is a fabulous restaurant not one to miss when you're in Quebec city in old town:)

Il Matto est sans aucun doute l'un des meilleurs restaurants du Vieux-Québec.
Lors de nos trois dernières visites, nous avons eu la chance d'être servis par Danny. Drôle, patient, toujours de bonne humeur & vif d'esprit, il se démarque par son professionnalisme & son énergie. Un employé exemplaire, du genre qu'un entrepreneur rêve d'avoir dans son équipe.

La nourriture est toujours excellente & l'ambiance chaleureuse rend chaque repas mémorable. Un incontournable du Vieux-Québec !

My partner treated me to date here on our last night in Quebec City, & what a treat it was! The service was amazing, especially from our waiter David. He didn't even blink at the fact I don't speak French well enough for a conversation, & engaged my partner in the art of Franglaise. Always around when we so much as thought of him, David was attentive & always had a smile on. He also recommended a lovely wine that I regret not getting the name of.

We didn't wait long at all for our food, which was surprising given how busy it was! My partner got the eggplant Parmesan that looked lovely, albeit a bit small in portion compared to my spaghetti & meatballs. Both dishes were equally delicious though, as were our desserts of tiramisu & Italian chocolate ice cream.

Definitely coming back next time we're in town!

The manager of the establishment was extremely attentive & friendly. The other staff which were not our servers were as well. Our server David was a master at waiting & is what you would hope & dream for in a waiter. He was attentive & gave us recommendations when we asked. He had no problem switching back & forth between english & french for my partner & I. He was kind & caring. Our food was delicious. I could not recommend the eggplant parmesan any more. The tiramisu was also fantastic & had a great layering going on. The only thing I disliked was where I was in the restaraunt. I was in a corner by a kitchen window- which made it a little loud at times but other than that- i couldn't give this place a better review. The prices were phenomenal. I will be back!
