About

Restaurant Ouroboros emphasizes a hyper-local culinary approach centered on the seasonal availability of market-fresh ingredients. The menu prioritizes regional Quebec produce, showcasing raw textures and traditional preservation techniques that define its bistronomic identity. Guests encounter a straightforward progression of plates where the natural integrity of vegetables and meats remains the focal point of every presentation. Minimalist preparation styles ensure that the inherent characteristics of local harvests take precedence over elaborate culinary manipulation. The environment fosters a focused engagement with the regional supply chain through a layout that prioritizes communal flow and direct interaction with the culinary workspace. This operation demonstrates a commitment to sustainable sourcing by reflecting the changing landscape of nearby fields and farms directly on the plate without unnecessary ornamental flourishes.

Review Summary

Restaurant Ouroboros offers a polarizing experience in Quebec City, known for its creative, rotating menu that emphasizes fresh and local ingredients. Many diners praise the restaurant for its innovative dishes, exceptional wine list featuring nature-focused selections, and generally attentive service. The tapas-style format is highlighted as a great way to sample a variety of flavorful plates, with several standout items mentioned frequently. However, some guests express disappointment regarding the portion sizes relative to the price, occasionally citing issues with consistency, temperature, or a lack of generosity in the plating. While the atmosphere is frequently described as approachable and sophisticated, mixed experiences with staff availability and the execution of certain dishes suggest that while many find it a must-visit destination, others feel the value does not always meet expectations.

My daughter & I visited Ouroboros during our trip to Quebec City, & it ended up being one of our favorite meals.

We arrived later in the day, & although they were able to fit us in, they let us know upfront that some items might be sold out since guests who were already seated would have first priority. I really appreciated that honesty. It set the tone for the entire experience & showed how much they value treating customers fairly.

When it came time to order, most of the menu was still available, & we ended up trying quite a few dishes. Every single one was outstanding. We loved the smaller portions because they allowed us to sample a variety of items & experience more of the menu.

Our favorite dish was the asparagus with egg & pesto. It was such a unique combination, & we're already talking about trying to recreate it at home. We especially loved how the chopped egg took on an almost cheese-like quality & added incredible flavor to the dish.

Our server was efficient, genuine, & helpful throughout the meal. We also loved the concept of a daily-changing menu built around fresh, local ingredients. You could truly taste the care, creativity, & freshness in every dish.

If I ever return to Quebec City, Ouroboros will absolutely be on my list of places to visit again.

Wonderful place for a quiet, intimate meal. Cozy & very relaxing atmosphere. Very nice & kind service (excellent English!). We got the chef's recommendation for 2 & every dish was perfect. The flavours were phenomenal. You can tell the quality of the ingredients & the love the chef put into the dishes - sweet, savoury, umami & slight acidity all played together in harmony in a single bite. Tldr; perfect place for a special occasion & to enjoy a farm to table experience with fresh ingredients.

This just needs to be on everyone's list for high quality restaurants to enjoy while in Quebec City. It has everything you're looking for: friendly-as-heck folks working there, a comfortable unpretentious space to to relax & enjoy your time, innovative & incredibly delicious food (all sourced to be as local & seasonal as possible), & delightful all natural wines. I would just whole heartedly recommend this to anyone that eats more plant-forward (though a vegan would like have a hard time, still) & frankly to anyone else. If I find myself in this city again I plan on finding myself at this place again. Eat & drink here, friend, you will enjoy it immensely. Cheers!
