The Sagamité opened its doors in 1999, and people from all over the world have been invited to discover Indigenous culture through gastronomy ever since. This place is named after the meal that has nourished the nation for centuries: the sagamité soup, which consists of corn, squash and beans. The restaurant is located in downtown Wendake.
The Saga Nomade Food Truck can be found all around Québec City and is also available for private events. Our specialties include our Signature poutine and our Elk burger. This is street food with an indigenous twist!

Le menu souper nous offre une panoplie de choix varié. Les types de viandes ne s'offrent pas dans les autres restaurant. & venir souper est une vraie expérience que vous ne vivrez pas ailleurs. Je vous conseille d'essayer le thé (ou tisane) qu'il offre est excellente & spécialisé autochtone 😋 Notre serveur Robert nous a donné le goût de revenir...alors nous sommes revenu mais pour le déjeuner cette fois😀
My wife & I went there last night. They were very nice & accommodating on arrival. we each ordered wine & soup, to start. I had the Sagamite soup which was good. My wife had the onion soup, which was good, but nothing special. We did have onion soup on two other occasions on this trip, in Old City which were outstanding & this one was just pretty good compared. My wife had shrimp that came in a sauce that was a bit too sweet, for her, but that does not mean anything other than it was a little sweet for her taste, but the shrimp were excellent. The menu had some good selections & after discussing the options with the waiter, I chose the Bison short ribs. The options I discussed were the Bison short ribs, the Elk flank steak & deer & elk medallions.- When my meal came to the table, I had a flank steak delivered. I thought maybe they cut the bison into a steak cut, so I tasted it & it was not bison. It was a good steak, but very mild for bison (at least bison steaks I have had). I mentioned to the gentleman that delivered the dish that I ordered the short ribs & he looked very confused & took the plate back. The waiter then cam back with the plate & said that this is the correct order & that is what I ordered. He was a bit aggressive in his approach & that almost forced me to respond, but I stopped myself, as I did not want to make a scene & be "that guy". My wife & I told him that we were pretty sure I ordered the short ribs & he said that I said that I wanted the bison. I pointed out that the flank steak was elk & he said that they used bison today. Interesting that if I had just said I want bison, the only bison on the menu were the short ribs, the flank steak said it was elk. Not sure if they get charged back for mistake orders/returns. I decided to accept it, as it was pretty good, nut nothing really special in taste. Not the smoked & tender ribs we discussed. Anyway, trying to be as fair as possible on the quality, the soups were good, but nothing special in flavor. The shrimp were very well cooked & very good. The steak was a good piece of meat, but nothing special in flavor or preparation. He tried to give me an extra glass of wine for free, which I appreciated, but declined ( i already had 1 & was driving). He then brought out a slice of maple pie. Again appreciated, but not necessary. I guess very good for maple pie, but not a choice we would go to again.
Food was hit or miss. We ordered the five course meal with three meats, duck nachos smashed potatoes poutine, chicken wing appetizer, & the poke bowl. The meats were cold. The smashed potato poutine was good & the Sagamité was incredible. Did not care for the soup of the day (a zucchini cream). Loved the bread. The duck poke was not good at all. Server was over-worked but we as amazing. Restaurant is attractive & clean with lots of open space & natural light. However, be careful: my son's water glass broke in his mouth as he was drinking & he ended up with broken glass in his mouth-very dangerous.
Réservation un anniversaire depuis 2 semaines à 19h30. Avons reçu notre notre entrée & la soupe dans les 2 heures donc entre 19h30 & 21h30. La bouteille de vin pour nous quatre était donc vide. D'autres clients arrivés après nous on était servi avant nous. Avons demandé souvent à la serveuse ce qu'il se passait avec notre commande. Avons reçu notre potence vers 10h!! Nous n'avions plus faim malheureusement. Aucun tambour pour l'anniversaire de Charles lors du service de la tarte. Machine à café pour espresso inclus comme indiqué sur la table de d'hôte mais non-fonctionnel, juste café filtre. C'était notre première fois dans ce restaurant car nous avions reçu un certificat-cadeau. Bien déçu.

La nourriture etait bonne, mais je crois qu'il y avait un problème au cuisine. Nos soupe ont été laissé sur le comptoir du bar par le boss-boy. Notre serveuse était occupé à prendre une commande à une table..après 5 min. Ma conjointe c'est levée & à été chercher nos soupe maintenant tiède. Demander une salade sans poivrons & elle est arrivé pleine de poivrons. Les carottes & panais étaient pratiquement crue dans l'assiette du repas principal. Très longue attente entre les services ( environs 3h pour souper) malheureusement notre expérience n'a pas été à la hauteur de nos attentes pour un souper à 2 de 300$. La qualité des ingrédients y étaient ,mais ont s'attendaient à une expérience bcp plus extraordinaire
Service exceptionnel. Tout était délicieux, vraiment fantastique. Le nouveau décor est magnifique. Nous étions allé déjeuner quelques fois depuis la réouverture, & nous avions très hâte d'y souper, ce fut un franc succès!
La soupe à l'oignon était froide & il manquait des éléments sur le menu. Erreur de commande, erreur de facture, il faisait très froid sur le bord des fenêtres, & le stationnement a été compliqué pour nos amis qui ne connaissent pas le coin. Mais le décor est superbe, le personnel sympathique malgré les petites erreurs de commandes. La nourriture pourrait être mieux assaisonnée (tartare fade entre autres). À ce prix, on s'attend à une meilleure expérience!
Pour le service: 3 heures, c'est trop long. Attendre 30 minutes entre chaque service de la table d'hôte ne me donne pas envie de vous référer à d'autres personnes . De plus, j'ai dû manger 2 entrées avec la même salade puisque je ne mange pas de soupe aux poissons. Il faudrait prévoir un 2 ieme potage à proposer. Pour tout vous dire, j'avais encore faim malgré l'importante somme que nous avons dû débourser. Je choisirai un autre restaurant la prochaine fois.
