We went to Vieux-Carré after we ate at L'Orygine on March 29, 2026. The cocktails were really good & well developed. We ordered a Cubano sandwich which was the best I've had so far. The bar is beautiful & the ambiance is good. On another note, they refer to it as a speakeasy; however, it is not underground & soundproof as a speakeasy normally is. Also, there were two gentlemen talking/laughing quite loudly, which is not typical for a speakeasy experience. Would still recommend anyone to visit. Cheers!

Ambiance feutrée, décor magnifique. un speakeasy comme on les aime.
Tu ressens rapidement que l'expérience passe par l'audace: les cocktails sont funky, créatifs & vraiment différents de ce qu'on trouve habituellement. Il faut aimer oser & ça vaut la peine.
J'ai fais confiance aux recommandations de David, & j'ai été ravie. Chaque cocktail est surprenant, équilibré & mémorable. Une très belle découverte, autant pour l'ambiance que pour le verre.

Would recommend. Great speakeasy style bar tucked away inside the restaurant. It's easy to find & the host will walk you there. Bar is a cozy & dimly lit which goes with the vibe of the place. There are a few high top tables & rest of the seating is bar seating. You can also order food here but don't think it is the same menu as the restaurant. The drinks are great & you can tell a lot of thought has gone into creating them - the menu for the cocktails is simple which works perfects but they also know how to make the classics so either way you can't go wrong.

Bottom line first: I had high expectations, & they were *not* completely met. Let's unpack this. I'm a big fan of the broader La Tanière group of restaurants. Plain & simple love each of them. Recently I had the privilege to enjoy cocktails at La Tanière before our stunning dinner. I had my "calibration cocktail" : an old fashioned. It was stunning. So when they announced they were opening a Speakeasy it became a priority for me to go, which I was able to do only 2 weeks after opening. My expectations were VERY HIGH. Conclusion : it was good but I'm slightly disappointed. (1) Speakeasy: not quite the atmosphere of a Speakeasy. We were seated outdoors as they cannot accommodate a group of 6 indoors. Not quite same video. I'll come back to experience the indoor room. A Speakeasy comes with a distinct atmosphere, a distinct décor, & stunning cocktails. (2) Cocktail bar or Restaurant with cocktails : to me that's the biggest question. The food is delicious, but it comes across as a food first type of place, cocktails second. A sandwich? Really at a Speakeasy? NO NO NO (irrespective of its quality). You want bite size food. Don't get me wrong, it's delicious, but there's a dissonance between very principles of a Speakeasy & the food. (3) Old Fashioned - it was good, but it was not as good as at La Tanière (despite me asking specifically this question, & being reassured it'd be exactly the same). I do believe a few limited tweaks would make a difference, I will return again next month, & will update. My reference in North America remains Deep Dive in Seattle, & Buck & Breck in Berlin (Germany)

Un bar que je voulais absolument découvrir. C'est le petit dernier du Groupe La Tanière, qui regroupe l'Orygine, La Légende & La Tanière3. C'est un bar style "speakeasy", situé dans les installations du restaurant l'Orygine. Pourquoi le Vieux Carré ? Eh bien, c'est un des cocktails préférés du propriétaire. Pour poursuivre, vous vous annoncez pour venir découvrir le Vieux Carré & ils vous ouvrent la porte qui mène vers ce bar caché d'inspiration Louisiane. Je vous recommande de faire une réservation ! Nous avons essayé deux cocktails (chacun) & partagé trois plats, ils étaient tellement bons!!! Tartare de cerf incroyable, cubanos excellent & planche charcuteries & fromages pour découvrir des produits locaux. L'expérience est exceptionnelle de l'entrée au service jusqu'à ce que vous sortiez du bar. Je n'en dirais pas plus, c'est maintenant à vous de venir le découvrir ! Je recommande à 100 % !
