Our experience at Confit Épicerie-Buvette is hard to put into words: we were visiting from the US with family & decided to sneak away for a date night not knowing we'd be talking about how incredible our dinner at Confit was for a long time.
After the restaurant came recommended by someone in town, we walked in & were able to get seats at the bar. Each person we spoke with (sometimes through broken French & English) was unbelievably kind, welcoming, full of amazing recommendations, & made us feel like they wanted us here as much as we wanted to be there.
We talked (& laughed) a lot with Alexanne behind the bar about the area, her story, & her time at Confit Épicerie-Buvette. We also had the pleasure of chatting quite a bit with one of the owners Alex while we enjoyed our meal. He was so insistent on making sure our experience was nothing short of phenomenal & he surpassed that. Joannie was so insightful in talking us through every course & the way every dish came to be. Each interaction was so warm & authentic & made us feel very welcome.
The food itself exceeded any expectations. From appetizer to dessert, everything was perfectly curated & absolutely divine. Fresh, original, well-cooked, perfectly paired. It was a top 3 meal of all time. I cannot rave enough about how delicious the entire meal was.
To everyone at Confit, thank you for making two Americans on a trip to Canada feel so welcome & laugh so much with you. Every single one of you made the experience one we will never forget.

Les plats sont savoureux, le service est attentionné & les excellentes connaissances de l'équipe en matière de bières & de vins permettent de faire de très belles découvertes. Quelle belle surprise que cet arrêt gourmand pendant mes vacances dans Charlevoix! C'était bien plus qu'une cuisine savoureuse, c'était une expérience: humaine, gustative, & mémorable. On est arrêté un midi & tellement contents de nos salades, du bon vin & les connaissances du co-propriétaire sur ce qui se trouve dans l'assiette, dans nos verres & chez les producteurs, qu'on y est retourné pour souper le lendemain! Tataki de flétan, canard, courgettes césar, aguachille concombre & pleurotes. Mmm! Que du bon. Si vous passez à La Malbaie, un arrêtez-vous au Confit!!

Une perle de restaurant à ne pas manquer si vous passez par La Malbaie! Des saveurs d'ici apprêtées avec amour, un service généreux & un lieu plein de cachet, modeste, mais décoré avec goût. Definitely a must-stop place! We enjoyed an amazing lunch with salads & sandwiches. The coffee is also fantastic, with just the right high-quality flavour. We'd be happy to try the dinner menu. A must-visit! Include it in your round trip.
It's not everyday that food is not only delicious, but also inspiring. Stopped by for sandwiches to-go; they were the best sandwiches we've ever had! Fine dining in a sandwich. More importantly, the owners were super friendly & passionate about their work. The young gentleman told me his & his partner's story of leaving Montreal to come here, to practice being closer to the land, prioritize fresh ingredients, & making impact in the community while respecting its assets & people. It's really idealistic & inspired. Pair that with food that is bar-none quality. Finally, I am Vietnamese & their pho ga broth in the pho-caccia sandwich was on point! The chef even said'pho ga' properly upon handing it to me. Congrats on following your passion & making a difference!
