About

Le Lapin Sauté centers its culinary focus on regional French preparations featuring rabbit as a signature element. The menu emphasizes locally sourced ingredients transformed through classic market cooking techniques. Diners encounter dishes like rabbit confit and braised cuts that showcase depth of flavor and traditional preparation methods. The architectural space utilizes exposed stone walls and wooden beams to define the interior atmosphere. Tables occupy a rustic environment that reflects a historical regional building style. The selection of poultry and game selections provides a cohesive narrative centered on seasonal offerings and farm to table sensibilities. Every plate maintains a strict adherence to authentic regional standards by highlighting the versatility of game meat in modern kitchen applications.

Review Summary

Le Lapin Sauté is widely celebrated as a charming, cozy, and quintessential destination in Old Quebec City, particularly favored for its authentic rabbit and duck specialties. Many visitors praise the restaurant for its warm, welcoming staff, impeccable service, and a picturesque patio perfect for people watching in the Petit Champlain district. While the majority of diners highlight the high quality of dishes like the rabbit poutine, cassoulet, and salted honey pie, some guests have noted inconsistencies in food preparation, occasional service delays, or a preference for larger portion sizes. Despite the high demand making reservations essential, most guests consider it a must-visit venue that captures a unique, intimate atmosphere suitable for families and romantic outings alike.

This restaurant was on the recommendation list of the hotel we're staying at. We'd made a reservation & were very glad we did. Our table was ready when we arrived. The service was attentive & friendly. Susan & I shared the Cassoulet pour 2, which was both delicious & comforting. If we lived in Quebec City it would be easy to become a regular at this lovely restaurant.

We loved everything about Le Lapin sauté. Great atmosphere, good & friendly service, & great food. Quebecoise discoveries, with a nice selection of cured meats, pates & cheese. Salad with rabbit kidney & liver. Cassoulet. It really is a gem ✔️✔️

Service was excellent.Ambience was excellent. Most of the food was very good. French onion soup was excellent. Cassoulet was poor: beans way overcooked & mushy, too much bean liquid, dish needed herbs & was very bland. For desserts, honey pie was very good.

Ambiance chaleureuse, les plats que nous avons mangés (cassoulets) étaient délicieux. Pensez à réserver car la salle est petite !

A super lunch! Very nice staff & atmosphere, a lovely relaxed experience. Seemed very child friendly. Would recommend booking if going for supper as they were fully booked when we tried to drop in the previous evening. Rabbit leg & duck sausage cassoulet was delicious & the rabbit pot pie was also splendid. Highly recommend!

My brother & I were in Québec City for a wedding, & loved the ambience of this restaurant from the streets in Le Petit Champlain, so we decided to Google it & see what the menu was like.

We loved the cozy rustic vibe of this place. We tried the Rabbit & Duck Cassoulet for 2. With no exaggeration, we felt like it was one of the best meals we had during our stay. We are so happy we made a reservation in advance, because we watched them turn many parties away due to how busy & full they were with reservations!

Staff was very friendly & made sure to check on us often.

Would love to come back here any time I'm in Québec City!
