Le Lapin Sauté centers its culinary focus on regional French preparations featuring rabbit as a signature element. The menu emphasizes locally sourced ingredients transformed through classic market cooking techniques. Diners encounter dishes like rabbit confit and braised cuts that showcase depth of flavor and traditional preparation methods. The architectural space utilizes exposed stone walls and wooden beams to define the interior atmosphere. Tables occupy a rustic environment that reflects a historical regional building style. The selection of poultry and game selections provides a cohesive narrative centered on seasonal offerings and farm to table sensibilities. Every plate maintains a strict adherence to authentic regional standards by highlighting the versatility of game meat in modern kitchen applications.
Le Lapin Sauté is widely celebrated as a charming, cozy, and quintessential destination in Old Quebec City, particularly favored for its authentic rabbit and duck specialties. Many visitors praise the restaurant for its warm, welcoming staff, impeccable service, and a picturesque patio perfect for people watching in the Petit Champlain district. While the majority of diners highlight the high quality of dishes like the rabbit poutine, cassoulet, and salted honey pie, some guests have noted inconsistencies in food preparation, occasional service delays, or a preference for larger portion sizes. Despite the high demand making reservations essential, most guests consider it a must-visit venue that captures a unique, intimate atmosphere suitable for families and romantic outings alike.
Le Lapin Sauté was such a fun & memorable dining experience in the heart of Old Québec. The restaurant has a warm, lively atmosphere, with excellent food & wine that everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed.
Our server was fantastic-friendly, funny, & incredibly engaging-which made the evening even more entertaining. The team also helped us celebrate a birthday, making the dinner feel especially festive & personal. The rabbit saddle & French onion soup were both absolutely delicious.
A charming boutique restaurant with wonderful hospitality, great energy, & memorable cuisine. We would happily return!
The food we ordered was very good, & the foie gras in particular was excellent. Our server was also friendly & attentive, which made for a pleasant dining experience.
I understand that the restaurant specializes in rabbit dishes, but I was expecting a more diverse menu with a wider variety of options. In fairness, I should have looked at the menu before making the reservation, so that's on me. Even so, I would have appreciated having a few more non-rabbit choices available.
Overall, the quality of the food was very good, & I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys the restaurant's specialty.

Wow - what a fantastic & yummy experience. We loved the cheese fondue, rabbit poutine, cassoulet with Salman, shrimp & scallops. The hunny sugar pie is a MUST! Enjoy
Charming spot in Old Quebec. Really great for someone with a rare allergy (corn). The rabbit pot pie was delicious & the service top notch. So great. Go!
The food was excellent from the start to the end. We had an appetizer that a variety of tasty morsels, 2 main plates & a dessert. All very satisfying & filling. The rabbit pot pie was very good, mild tasting between a chicken or duck flavor. I would go again to try the other rabbit dishes.
honestly a great restaurant if you want quality food! it is on the pricier side but if you wish to spend money to buy great food, this is the place.
