Review Summary

Le Lapin Sauté is widely celebrated as a charming, cozy, and quintessential destination in Old Quebec City, particularly favored for its authentic rabbit and duck specialties. Many visitors praise the restaurant for its warm, welcoming staff, impeccable service, and a picturesque patio perfect for people watching in the Petit Champlain district. While the majority of diners highlight the high quality of dishes like the rabbit poutine, cassoulet, and salted honey pie, some guests have noted inconsistencies in food preparation, occasional service delays, or a preference for larger portion sizes. Despite the high demand making reservations essential, most guests consider it a must-visit venue that captures a unique, intimate atmosphere suitable for families and romantic outings alike.

Le Lapin Sauté was such a fun & memorable dining experience in the heart of Old Québec. The restaurant has a warm, lively atmosphere, with excellent food & wine that everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed.

Our server was fantastic-friendly, funny, & incredibly engaging-which made the evening even more entertaining. The team also helped us celebrate a birthday, making the dinner feel especially festive & personal. The rabbit saddle & French onion soup were both absolutely delicious.

A charming boutique restaurant with wonderful hospitality, great energy, & memorable cuisine. We would happily return!

Amazingly good...from the French onion soup which was salted just right...the fries were fresh cut....& the cassoulet with duck sausage, rabbit leg & wonderfully buttery beans & pork were savoury & perfect... even the rabbit which is usually dry was done perfectly & with the sauce in the beans was a perfect pairing. All the staff worked together & the setting was very French & pub-like at the same time.

Rabbit Poutine! YES! Our favourite restaurant in Old Quebec City. Had a couple of icy cold Kronenbourg 1664 Blanc & shared a Rabbit Poutine & French Onion Soup on the cool, shady patio. Don't miss this great spot if you are in Vieux-Québec. Always busy, but easy to make a reservation online.

Lovely little restaurant. Charming ambience & delicious food. We had the cassoulet with the rabbit leg, french onion soup & the summer salad. Everything was so good. My favorite was the dessert...salted honey pie. One of the best desserts I have ever had!

Le Lapin Sauté absolutely lived up to its reputation. Everything we ordered was excellent, from the rich French onion soup & foie gras to the rabbit poutine, rabbit pot pie, & rabbit roulade. Each dish was flavorful, perfectly prepared, & showcased rabbit in a different way.

The atmosphere was warm, inviting, & very intimate-it's a small space that probably can't accommodate more than 20 people. The service was friendly & attentive, & the whole experience felt quintessentially Québécois.

Highly recommended!

?We had to make a reservation before arriving at dinner time. I absolutely loved the atmosphere; it was both cozy & vibrant.
?For starters, we had the French onion soup, followed by the Mushroom Ravioli & the Game Burger for our mains. The onion soup & ravioli were quite good. However, the burger had a very strong, gamey aroma; it honestly felt a bit like live stock with every bite. While the quality of the meat was clearly good, I've definitely had better burgers. If you prefer your meat to taste more neutral & dislike the strong smell of lamb fat or heavy beef, this might not be the burger for you.
?Service was also a bit on the slower side, with a pretty long wait between our starter & the main courses.
