Review Summary

Le Lapin Sauté is widely celebrated as a charming, cozy, and quintessential destination in Old Quebec City, particularly favored for its authentic rabbit and duck specialties. Many visitors praise the restaurant for its warm, welcoming staff, impeccable service, and a picturesque patio perfect for people watching in the Petit Champlain district. While the majority of diners highlight the high quality of dishes like the rabbit poutine, cassoulet, and salted honey pie, some guests have noted inconsistencies in food preparation, occasional service delays, or a preference for larger portion sizes. Despite the high demand making reservations essential, most guests consider it a must-visit venue that captures a unique, intimate atmosphere suitable for families and romantic outings alike.

Great experience on a Monday night in late winter at Le Lapin Saute. The atmosphere was cozy without being crowded, & rabbit themed without being too cute. Service was flawless - just the right amount of attention, recommendations, pace. We don't speak Quebecoise but the staff had impeccable English & made us feel welcomed. (This was true everywhere we went in Quebec City even as Canadian & American politicians are at odds.)

Food - we had rabbit poutine as an appetizer & a rabbit-duck sampler (with fondue) as our entree. Delicious, beautiful, unusual in a warm & rich good way.

Most fancy restaurants serve small servings & pretentious dishes. This is a fancy place with great portions & very tasty food!

The duck fois gras is exactly the way it should taste, seeved with an amazing ginger bread.

Went with the Rabbit Poutine with mustard & it too was so tasty!

Finally, I consider myself to be a Crème Brûlée. I've had it all over the US, Canada & Europe , including in Paris & this was as good as I've had, done just right!

The service is nice. The restaurant is quite small - I estimate about 30 seats, so make a reservation. It will be worth it!

I was here 10 years ago, & went again with my colleagues. We loved the historic feel of this small but delightful resto-bar. The food was amazing! Various rabbit & duck dishes, traditional Quebec food! Right in the heart of the Old Quebec area.
The staff were so friendly!
We wish we could go again!

Our last dinner in Quebec was at Le Lapin Sauté. The restaurant is small & cozy & warm with a fireplace. The atmosphere so friendly. The food was piping hot & delicious. I had the Duck Confit Parmentier & it came with a delicious leafy green salad. The portion was large. My husband had the grilled cheese- also delicious, & accompanied by french fries & salad. The prices are crazy reasonable! We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Thank you to the lovely staff & chef.

It was the first time tried rabbit! The rabbit was a bit dry but the sauce was not bad. Duck sausage was not bad as well. I loved the French onion soup!!! Overall feels like really well-made home-style health dishes.
