About

Le Lapin Sauté centers its culinary focus on regional French preparations featuring rabbit as a signature element. The menu emphasizes locally sourced ingredients transformed through classic market cooking techniques. Diners encounter dishes like rabbit confit and braised cuts that showcase depth of flavor and traditional preparation methods. The architectural space utilizes exposed stone walls and wooden beams to define the interior atmosphere. Tables occupy a rustic environment that reflects a historical regional building style. The selection of poultry and game selections provides a cohesive narrative centered on seasonal offerings and farm to table sensibilities. Every plate maintains a strict adherence to authentic regional standards by highlighting the versatility of game meat in modern kitchen applications.

Review Summary

Le Lapin Sauté is widely celebrated as a charming, cozy, and quintessential destination in Old Quebec City, particularly favored for its authentic rabbit and duck specialties. Many visitors praise the restaurant for its warm, welcoming staff, impeccable service, and a picturesque patio perfect for people watching in the Petit Champlain district. While the majority of diners highlight the high quality of dishes like the rabbit poutine, cassoulet, and salted honey pie, some guests have noted inconsistencies in food preparation, occasional service delays, or a preference for larger portion sizes. Despite the high demand making reservations essential, most guests consider it a must-visit venue that captures a unique, intimate atmosphere suitable for families and romantic outings alike.

Never tried rabbit before. It was delicious. The staff were very patient & friendly. The salted honey pie is a must have. I highly recommend this restaurant! Sorry I opened the pot pie before the photo.

Wow. Just wow. My daughter & I started with an appetizer of cheese, fondue each & boy are we glad we didn't share one of those because frankly, we each could've eaten two or three of them. They were so good. I mean really really great. We then split the Rabbit stew with a pastry top. Also delicious & highly recommended. We topped it off with a crème brûlée Since we are fans of that dessert. We had tried four other crème brûlée across old Quebec during the week & this one was by far the absolute best. Overall, a really terrific meal & a really relaxed & intimate atmosphere.

Our lunch was so good we returned the following day for dinner. Very French French, lovely atmosphere made even better by lovely staff. Specialiser on Rabbit & duck, the sharing board with added frois Grois was delightful for lunch & the duck & rabbit cassoulet a real treat on the evening meal. The mid evening times were booked 24 hours before so consider early booking although reckon they keep some for walk ins. Highly recommended.

Very delicious food & friendly staff. It's a small restaurant so I'd highly recommend making a reservation beforehand! Absolutely loved it

We came here for Valentine's Day & got a reservation! We ordered the rabbit leg, duck leg, with Duck Sausage combo - all were very flavorful & tender. We also tried the duck breast( Duck Magret) , which was cooked perfectly, & the peppercorn sauce was amazing. Their sangria was delicious too! The staff were very friendly & attentive without being intrusive. We really enjoyed our visit & highly recommend it!

Small location so make sure to book ahead of time if possible. Food was delicious, atmosphere was very cozy. Location is great, bottom of break neck steps. Lots of shops nearby. I ordered the Eggs Benedict Rabbit Confit & it was amazing. My wife ordered the avocado toast with smoke salmon & it was delicious as well. Would highly recommend this location & plan on returning the next time we visit Quebec City.

We have been eating here for over 21 years is probably one of the most consistent quality Traditional Quebecois Restaurants in the city. Pascal our waiter was excellent, as always. I highly recommend this restaurant!!!

We stopped by for coffee & dessert, & it was such a lovely experience. The decorations were very different & interesting, giving the place a unique charm. The staff were warm & welcoming. We sat right beside an authentic fireplace-hearing the crackling fire (without any smoke!) made it extra cozy.

The desserts were truly a different experience 🤤😋. After walking in freezing weather, enjoying delicious desserts & a great cup of coffee here is an absolute must. Highly recommended!
