Review Summary

Le Lapin Sauté is widely celebrated as a charming, cozy, and quintessential destination in Old Quebec City, particularly favored for its authentic rabbit and duck specialties. Many visitors praise the restaurant for its warm, welcoming staff, impeccable service, and a picturesque patio perfect for people watching in the Petit Champlain district. While the majority of diners highlight the high quality of dishes like the rabbit poutine, cassoulet, and salted honey pie, some guests have noted inconsistencies in food preparation, occasional service delays, or a preference for larger portion sizes. Despite the high demand making reservations essential, most guests consider it a must-visit venue that captures a unique, intimate atmosphere suitable for families and romantic outings alike.

Such a charming place for a meal in the Lower Town of Old Quebec! The restaurant is small so reservations are highly recommended, we saw a lot of walk-ins get turned away. The food is delicious & the service is fantastic. Try the cheese fondue with crispy onions, it was so yummy! We also got the lamb chop, pasta, & rabbit saddle. Everything was cooked perfectly & served with a smile!

We had a reservation for 6pm but we were done walking around by about 5:30 PM. We went to check in to see if they could see us early & luckily they were able to accommodate us. Highly recommend making reservations as people were being turned away at the door. Restaurant is very small. We had great attentive service & the food was terrific. Highly recommend the maple crème brûlée!

This charming restaurant offers a cute & cozy atmosphere that immediately makes you feel at home. The food is authentic & delicious; we started with foie gras paired with champagne, followed by a rabbit stew complemented by local red wine, both of which were outstanding. For dessert, the crème brûlée was absolutely divine! What truly elevated our experience was our server, Delphine, whose warmth & positivity made our visit unforgettable. Her exceptional service added a delightful touch to an already wonderful meal. Highly recommend!

I had a fantastic dining experience at this restaurant! A reservation is definitely a must, especially during the holiday season, as it gets quite busy. There's paid parking available outside, just few steps lead to the street side, which is convenient to majority of people. The food was absolutely delicious. The meat was cooked perfectly. I highly recommend trying the foie gras & rabbit - both were outstanding. The staff were incredibly friendly & attentive, adding to the overall wonderful atmosphere. Definitely a place worth visiting!

A great waitress & attentive! We sat on the nice outdoor patio overlooking a garden in the Petit-Champlain district. The Poke Bowl & mocktail I ordered were delicious! It was fun to people-watch. Highly recommend.

Came here for lunch on a Saturday with a reservation - the place is quite small & got pretty busy when we were there, so a reservation is highly recommended. We ordered the tout lapin tout canard (rabbit & duck platter) to share, & the portion was just right for the three of us. Found the rabbit leg to be a bit dry, but it was very good with the sauces. The duck was great (especially the smoked duck breast) & overall there were a lot of interesting textures & flavours which we enjoyed. Ambiance is rustic & cozy, & service is friendly & quick.

The rabbit pot pie is by far the best pot pie I have ever had. Highly recommended. The sea buckthorn lemonade was an interesting new experience that I would be happy to repeat. Excellent maple creme brulee, very politically correct for a French Canadian restaurant. Second meal here years later & it's still just as good. My daughter: "I've never been to a place that cooks green beans, potatoes, & purple cabbage perfectly. Would they open a restaurant in Pittsburgh? Please?" The duck & rabbit platter was amazing, & the cheese fondue was excellent.

We ordered the half portion of the huge plate $79, half portion is $44. Their waitress always recommends this expensive dish but nooooo, don't do the full size, not highly recommend. Rabbit leg is huge but not too much flavored. Friendly front desk outside. bread served was 2 cold 1 hot which is unusual. We waited for the bread for 20 mins & was told by a man impatiently "it should be with your food" Next time , plz be patient☺️ good atmosphere outside in the summer.
