About

Le Lapin Sauté centers its culinary focus on regional French preparations featuring rabbit as a signature element. The menu emphasizes locally sourced ingredients transformed through classic market cooking techniques. Diners encounter dishes like rabbit confit and braised cuts that showcase depth of flavor and traditional preparation methods. The architectural space utilizes exposed stone walls and wooden beams to define the interior atmosphere. Tables occupy a rustic environment that reflects a historical regional building style. Review Summary

Le Lapin Sauté is widely celebrated as a charming, cozy, and quintessential destination in Old Quebec City, particularly favored for its authentic rabbit and duck specialties. Many visitors praise the restaurant for its warm, welcoming staff, impeccable service, and a picturesque patio perfect for people watching in the Petit Champlain district. While the majority of diners highlight the high quality of dishes like the rabbit poutine, cassoulet, and salted honey pie, some guests have noted inconsistencies in food preparation, occasional service delays, or a preference for larger portion sizes. Despite the high demand making reservations essential, most guests consider it a must-visit venue that captures a unique, intimate atmosphere suitable for families and romantic outings alike.

A great night at Lapin Sauté. We shared the All Rabbit All Duck for two & it was delicious. Every mouthful was better than the last (& it was plenty for the three of us). We finished our meal with the Salted Honey Pie. It was unique & scrumptious. But the night was made special by the wonderful & terrific service. The restaurant is small, but the staff made us feel like we were in their home kitchen. We'd give Le Lapin Sauté six stars "⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️" if we could.

Some of the best food I have ever had. The onion soup & rabbit pot pie were outstanding! A full week of dining all around Quebec City, we had some amazing meals. This was the best.

The service was wonderful. The rabbit pot pie was as good as you would expect for a restaurant with this name. The decor is cozy French country & reservations are definitely needed. I have no suggestions for improvement. If you find yourself in Quebec city in the lower town this is a must visit.

Fantastic service! My husband enjoyed his cassoulet, unfortunately I did not like the seasoning of my pot pie.

We just loved this place! Servers were friendly & helpful. The mixed appetizer plates were fabulous & let you try a little bit of everything. The cassoulet was hearty & great even if I will admit it wasn't authentic French cassoulet - it was still very good. Our server suggested adding a second duck confit so I wouldn't have to share mine! Haha. We came back later that night for dessert because we were too full at lunch. Would highly recommend the honey pie! Ambience on the patio was lovely

The service & cuisine were superb. My fiancé has never tried rabbit. She loved it. The rabbit saddles & pot pie were incredible. The maple syrup creme brûlée was a perfect balance of sweet & creamy.

The fondue & Lapin rillette were delicious to start. All entrees were amazing...highlights were Lapin pot pie & seafood cassoulet. Don't skip the salted honey pie. So good! Our server Delphine was delightful. Thank you for a nice evening!

We loved it--the restaurant & the food. Yes, we were a little anxious about a heavy-on-rabbit menu, but my sister-in-law raves about La Lapin Saute, eats there every chance she gets, & ordered/commanded/urged us to "at least give it a try," & we're very happy we did. Got the last two reservations available on our last night in Quebec City. Phew! Friendly staff, great ambience, & wonderful food. Enjoyed a mixed platter appetizer, onion soup, rabbit pot pies, & creme brule. Saddest part? The meal came to an end. Hope to return someday.
