Review Summary

Le Lapin Sauté is widely celebrated as a charming, cozy, and quintessential destination in Old Quebec City, particularly favored for its authentic rabbit and duck specialties. Many visitors praise the restaurant for its warm, welcoming staff, impeccable service, and a picturesque patio perfect for people watching in the Petit Champlain district. While the majority of diners highlight the high quality of dishes like the rabbit poutine, cassoulet, and salted honey pie, some guests have noted inconsistencies in food preparation, occasional service delays, or a preference for larger portion sizes. Despite the high demand making reservations essential, most guests consider it a must-visit venue that captures a unique, intimate atmosphere suitable for families and romantic outings alike.

Rabbit pot pie & pork chop are my choices. The maple creme brulee is my dessert recommendation .

The food was fantastic, ambiance was cozy, & the service was personable & engaging, which is a big part of the dining experience for me. The cocktails were tasty, & you absolutely must save room for the Salted Honey Pie. It undoubtedly ranks in the top 1% of the best desserts I've ever had-I could have easily eaten two! :) This is the kind of place we'll return to every time we visit Quebec.

The rabbit saddle I keep seeing recommended was dry, but my wife's rabbit pot pie was very good. The piece of salmon for the kids meal was very small but understandable for $14. Includes dessert. Next time will definitely try the rabbit & duck leg. Will probably have better luck with dark meat. Sat indoors in the cute corner area. Made reservations online.

The rabbit pot pie is by far the best pot pie I have ever had. Highly recommended. The sea buckthorn lemonade was an interesting new experience that I would be happy to repeat. Excellent maple creme brulee, very politically correct for a French Canadian restaurant. Second meal here years later & it's still just as good. My daughter: "I've never been to a place that cooks green beans, potatoes, & purple cabbage perfectly. Would they open a restaurant in Pittsburgh? Please?" The duck & rabbit platter was amazing, & the cheese fondue was excellent.

Our first time trying rabbit & the seasoning & gravy of the pie content is excellent ! Recommended by one of the staffs! You should try it too! Atmosphere is a little squeezy inside & it was a little chaos due to staff changing timing but other than that, the food wins so you should come !

Best meal we had in Quebec City. Perfect atmosphere. Very helpful waitress. Got the Rabbit Saddle with gravy sauce & the Rabbit Meat Pie. Waitress gave us a terrific wine pairing recommendation. Finished with the maple crème brûlée! *also, tip, ask for bread. Perfect way to clean up your plate 👌

Real cost place in the old city of Québec. The atmosphere is charming & warm. The service was excellent & the lady who served us was really kind. I have no words to describe how good the food was. I ate the porc with vegetables & my mother took a Fish Cassoulet. & the Honey Pie, one of the best dessert I ever had, the good balance between all the tastes, just for the Maple Syrup crème brûlée we didn't really taste the maple syrup. The place is quite small, so if you wanna go there it's better to reserve to be sure to have a table. I really recommend it!

My favourite meal while visiting Quebec City for 5 days. We enjoyed the rabbit & duck cassoulet & the seafood cassoulet, the honey pie, creme brulee & cappucino. Service was excellent. Patio was cozy & had heaters. Only wish we'd made it back to try more dishes.
