Review Summary

Le Lapin Sauté is widely celebrated as a charming, cozy, and quintessential destination in Old Quebec City, particularly favored for its authentic rabbit and duck specialties. Many visitors praise the restaurant for its warm, welcoming staff, impeccable service, and a picturesque patio perfect for people watching in the Petit Champlain district. While the majority of diners highlight the high quality of dishes like the rabbit poutine, cassoulet, and salted honey pie, some guests have noted inconsistencies in food preparation, occasional service delays, or a preference for larger portion sizes. Despite the high demand making reservations essential, most guests consider it a must-visit venue that captures a unique, intimate atmosphere suitable for families and romantic outings alike.

Reserved months in advanced & we were seated immediately. We had the option of indoors or outdoors. The nook we were seated at was whimsical & had a Ghibli movie feel to it. The dishes we ordered were: Rabbit poutine (appetizer) Rabbit leg main course Squash ravioli with the add on of Rabbit As we were visiting Quebec City, our goal was to try the rabbit dishes. My partner enjoyed the rabbit leg & I enjoyed the squash ravioli with rabbit. The squash ravioli had a clear sauce to it & the rabbit pieces were scattered throughout. This pasta dish reminded me of a hearty chicken noodle soup. If I had extra appetizer bread, I would have dipped the bread in the ravioli sauce. I wish we had more room to try the salted honey pie. Great service, English friendly, & checked up on our meals/ refilled our waters at a normal capacity.

Our favorite dining experience in Quebec City! The service was kind & attentive. The food & drinks were delightful. The rabbit pot pie was incredible. Highly recommend- do make reservations as it is small & fills quickly.

My boyfriend really wanted to try rabbit while we were in Quebec & this place definitely delivered. Easy to walk to, as it is right in the middle of touristy Quartier Petit Champlain. The rabbit leg was very tender & tasty & the rabbit pot pie was full of flavor. We also got a cheese for an appetizer, which was a fun experience, & the tiramisu for dessert. Service was great, the staff is very capable in both French & English, & the atmosphere is very nice & cozy.

I grew up on wild meat so this was the perfect restaurant for me. So glad I got the chance to visit. I loved every bite. I ordered the duck sausage & rabbit leg which comes on a bed of beans & it just reminded me of eating dinner with my grandfather. Very nostalgic. Great flavours. Had the salted honey pie for dessert which was absolutely delicious. Fresh bread whenever we asked (gotta eat beans with buttered bread, I don't make the rules) we had a very nice lady serve us but there was also a gentleman with glasses that helped with every table as well. They're a team he said. He was very lively & energetic. Definitely a meal I'll have to come back for. Don't miss out when coming to Quebec City. I would recommend a reservation though as they're usually full.

We had a great time & the waiter (very personable bald headed guy), was perfect. I loved the pot pie, I wish it had more lapin!

Great spot with a distinct menu. The shared plates are wonderful as is everything else we tried here, including the rabbit pot pie & the rabbit poutine. Soups were also wonderful. Highly recommend, though I don't usually recommend places in such trafficked tourist areas, as they are often second tier...this is a true exception. A must do dining experience.

Quaint & perfect. I had an 8pm reservation on a rainy Monday evening after I arrived from traveling all day. They were able to squeeze me in a bit earlier & I enjoyed every moment I was in the restaurant. From the food to the service everything was top notch. I had the rabbit saddle with mustard & salted honey pie. Both incredibly unique & delicious. Absolutely would recommend eating here, but make sure you make a reservation!

Every time I go to Quebec City I make a point of having either lunch or Dinner here. I especially enjoy the « Tourte au lapin ». Or rabbit pie......i miss the old version though. The pie is now a pot pie....versus a real pie......
