About

Le Lapin Sauté centers its culinary focus on regional French preparations featuring rabbit as a signature element. The menu emphasizes locally sourced ingredients transformed through classic market cooking techniques. Diners encounter dishes like rabbit confit and braised cuts that showcase depth of flavor and traditional preparation methods. The architectural space utilizes exposed stone walls and wooden beams to define the interior atmosphere. Tables occupy a rustic environment that reflects a historical regional building style. The selection of poultry and game selections provides a cohesive narrative centered on seasonal offerings and farm to table sensibilities. Every plate maintains a strict adherence to authentic regional standards by highlighting the versatility of game meat in modern kitchen applications.

Review Summary

Le Lapin Sauté is widely celebrated as a charming, cozy, and quintessential destination in Old Quebec City, particularly favored for its authentic rabbit and duck specialties. Many visitors praise the restaurant for its warm, welcoming staff, impeccable service, and a picturesque patio perfect for people watching in the Petit Champlain district. While the majority of diners highlight the high quality of dishes like the rabbit poutine, cassoulet, and salted honey pie, some guests have noted inconsistencies in food preparation, occasional service delays, or a preference for larger portion sizes. Despite the high demand making reservations essential, most guests consider it a must-visit venue that captures a unique, intimate atmosphere suitable for families and romantic outings alike.

Cozy little restaurant with many duck & rabbit entree choices you can't go wrong with

Would highly recommend the Taste of Quèbec appetizer & their cassoulet was one of my favorite dishes we've had in the City!

Excellent service, excellent food, in a central location!

Try the rabbit poutine with the mustard sauce (it's nothing like your normal yellow mustard, it's actually very similar to gravy).

The cheese plate is a bit expensive for what you get - I would avoid that next time. Tasty - but not worth $35 in my opinion

I would eat here again.

Second night of three in Quebec & this restaurant was great. We had a shared starter of rillette, cheese & other goodies followed by a rabbit casserole. My wife had the prawn & seafood cassoulet. Atmosphere was great & we talked to people on either side of us. Just a lovely friendly place with excellent food & service!

Excellent restaurant. Their specialty is rabbit, but not all the dishes have rabbit. Definitely a must. The restaurant is very small & a reservation is really needed. Sometimes, you have to wait a few minutes for a table to clear, even with a reservation.

It was tough to choose what I wanted to eat most from the brunch menu... Decided on the tartine & was not disappointed! My partner had the rabbit poutine, something new for him & he loved it also. It's a cute spot in a busy area & worth the visit.

What a cute little joint with absolutely top notch service , great ambience. Food was served so quick , yet there was no compromise with the flavors, it was surprisingly fast. We tried the rabbit saddle , quebec Cheese fondue & creme brulee , pocket pinch was ok compared to the portions , highly recommend 👍

Our server Pascal made the experience most enjoyable & one we will not soon forget! His recommendation for the rabbit & duck platter for two paired with a delicious pinot noir followed with honey pie for dessert left all plates empty without over indulging. I highly recommend this restaurant but make reservations at least a week in advance.

We enjoyed very much our dinner there. As the name suggests, rabbit is the speciality. Food was really tasty. We got lucky to get a table without booking but it's better to book in advance. It's located in a very nice street filled with restaurants & shops.

We were welcomed without a reservation & our server was helpful & friendly. We had rabbit poutine & onion soup to start - both packed with flavour. Next we both had the cassoulet with duck leg - again packed with flavour & huge portions. It's was a little meat overload - but when in Quebec City right? For dessert we shared the maple creme brûlée which was divine.

Best meal of the trip! Highly recommend you make a reservation here & try the French Onion Soup. My husband especially loved the Rabbit & Duck plate. Very small but cozy restaurant with great service. We loved it here. Thank you again!
