About

Le Lapin Sauté centers its culinary focus on regional French preparations featuring rabbit as a signature element. The menu emphasizes locally sourced ingredients transformed through classic market cooking techniques. Diners encounter dishes like rabbit confit and braised cuts that showcase depth of flavor and traditional preparation methods. The architectural space utilizes exposed stone walls and wooden beams to define the interior atmosphere. Tables occupy a rustic environment that reflects a historical regional building style. The selection of poultry and game selections provides a cohesive narrative centered on seasonal offerings and farm to table sensibilities. Every plate maintains a strict adherence to authentic regional standards by highlighting the versatility of game meat in modern kitchen applications.

Review Summary

Le Lapin Sauté is widely celebrated as a charming, cozy, and quintessential destination in Old Quebec City, particularly favored for its authentic rabbit and duck specialties. Many visitors praise the restaurant for its warm, welcoming staff, impeccable service, and a picturesque patio perfect for people watching in the Petit Champlain district. While the majority of diners highlight the high quality of dishes like the rabbit poutine, cassoulet, and salted honey pie, some guests have noted inconsistencies in food preparation, occasional service delays, or a preference for larger portion sizes. Despite the high demand making reservations essential, most guests consider it a must-visit venue that captures a unique, intimate atmosphere suitable for families and romantic outings alike.

Le Lapin Sauté is a lovely, small eatery within Quebec. The food was beyond fantastic. Well presented, delicious rabbit, duck, salad & sauces made for an unforgettable meal.
I highly recommend this restaurant.
Merci

It was difficult getting a reservation at this popular restaurant, & our excitement was high due to its great reviews. However, the food didn't quite match our expectations. Each of us ordered a course with an appetizer, main dish, & dessert, but nothing stood out as impressive. The rabbit dishes we tried, while an interesting experience since we hadn't tasted rabbit before, ended up tasting like drier chicken. Overall it was still a good dining experience, but not as amazing as we'd hoped.

Only the onion soup was ok, rabbit pie was tasteless & the « Quebec discoveries » were pretty disappointing. We went there cuz many restaurants are closed on Mondays

As the name suggest, this is one of the few places in Quebec where you can taste rabbits. The restaurant is cute & a bit crowded. But the food is delicious & we loved it. The portions are quite generous for the price you pay.

Loved the dining room, service was great, food was mostly great, except I wish the rabbit leg had been cooked differently. It was too soft, like it had been cooked in water. I would have preferred it grilled or roasted, with more seared exterior. Otherwise the appetizer & accompaniments were all very good.

A super lunch! Very nice staff & atmosphere, a lovely relaxed experience. Seemed very child friendly. Would recommend booking if going for supper as they were fully booked when we tried to drop in the previous evening. Rabbit leg & duck sausage cassoulet was delicious & the rabbit pot pie was also splendid. Highly recommend!
