Review Summary

Le Lapin Sauté is widely celebrated as a charming, cozy, and quintessential destination in Old Quebec City, particularly favored for its authentic rabbit and duck specialties. Many visitors praise the restaurant for its warm, welcoming staff, impeccable service, and a picturesque patio perfect for people watching in the Petit Champlain district. While the majority of diners highlight the high quality of dishes like the rabbit poutine, cassoulet, and salted honey pie, some guests have noted inconsistencies in food preparation, occasional service delays, or a preference for larger portion sizes. Despite the high demand making reservations essential, most guests consider it a must-visit venue that captures a unique, intimate atmosphere suitable for families and romantic outings alike.

What a delicious meal experience we enjoyed last evening. We both ordered the rabbit pot pie & it did not disappoint. After coffee & maple crème brûlée, we were on our way. Perfect.

We shared the platter of duck & rabbit delicacies which was orgasmic. By far the best, most fresh & authentic meal we have enjoyed in QC. Sarah was warm, welcoming & provided excellent, attentive & personable service. We would have loved to return for a repeat meal but the restaurant is closed on Mondays & we are leaving tomorrow:(

We had the sharing platter, duck leg, rabbit leg, Rilette etc. Food was good but came all at the same time, warm & cold. Would have been much more enjoyable if the "cold" food had been served first after that the "hot" food. Now started with the hot, as otherwise it would have been cold if we would have started with the cold food first.
In short it could have been much more enjoyable!

We recently visited Montreal & booked a meal at Le Lapin Saute following reviews on travel review sites - we were not disappointed. We chose the three course option & the food was delicious especially the saddle of rabbit & the pot pie. The local rhubarb cake was also very good. We would recommend this restaurant but make sure to book as it is very popular.

We had a wonderful dinner here on the our last night in Quebec City. We sat outside & the setting was perfect & the service was great. We had the rabbit poutine appetizer & the Tout lapin tout canard. Delicious! Highly recommend!

Well situated on a lively part of Old Quebec near the Port, this is a cosy place to dine with filling hot meals a plenty. I'm vegetarian & enjoyed sharing the cheese fondue for entree & the pasta for main while my husband loved the rabbit leg! Dishes are reasonably priced & there is a great option to choose multiple courses for a set price. The menu had other meals outside of rabbit however judging by what people around us were ordering, rabbit is definitely the speciality & a great opportunity to enjoy it here.

Lovely bistro with good food, not great. Service okay. Water not filled, never brought bread. Onion soup very good but a little less thyme would be awesome. Rabbit was delicious as was the light & simple pasta dish.

What an experience! First of all, it's snuggled right in the old town Quebec area. We felt compelled to try to the rabbit as it was their specialty which was a little out of our comfort zone - but it did not disappoint. They offer a meal to share for two that includes a variety of rabbit & duck dishes & sides. It was by the far the best meal we had in Quebec. Would highly recommend & service was outstanding.

Overall a spot with considerable charm. Cosy ambiance, fairly delicious offering. We had the justly popular duck & rabbit platter which offered good value especially those wanting a nice range of tastes & texture. Our indoor server was an excellent hard worker & very kind & attentive. Easy to see this as popular with tourists.
