About

Le Lapin Sauté centers its culinary focus on regional French preparations featuring rabbit as a signature element. The menu emphasizes locally sourced ingredients transformed through classic market cooking techniques. Diners encounter dishes like rabbit confit and braised cuts that showcase depth of flavor and traditional preparation methods. The architectural space utilizes exposed stone walls and wooden beams to define the interior atmosphere. Tables occupy a rustic environment that reflects a historical regional building style. The selection of poultry and game selections provides a cohesive narrative centered on seasonal offerings and farm to table sensibilities. Every plate maintains a strict adherence to authentic regional standards by highlighting the versatility of game meat in modern kitchen applications.

Review Summary

Le Lapin Sauté is widely celebrated as a charming, cozy, and quintessential destination in Old Quebec City, particularly favored for its authentic rabbit and duck specialties. Many visitors praise the restaurant for its warm, welcoming staff, impeccable service, and a picturesque patio perfect for people watching in the Petit Champlain district. While the majority of diners highlight the high quality of dishes like the rabbit poutine, cassoulet, and salted honey pie, some guests have noted inconsistencies in food preparation, occasional service delays, or a preference for larger portion sizes. Despite the high demand making reservations essential, most guests consider it a must-visit venue that captures a unique, intimate atmosphere suitable for families and romantic outings alike.

I enjoy eating rabbit & found all the story & info written about this restaurant so interesting that I wanted to try it. Glad we did. Overall it was good, the atmosphere lovely & great service. Our appetizer, The rabbit rilletes was delicious. I then had the rabbit saddle & my husband had the seafood Cassoulets ( at a rabbit restaurant). My rabbit was well cooked, tender & delicious. the parsnips delicious but the green beans overcooked. Overall glad I tried it but my dad still made the best rabbit to date, wish I had watched him more carefully.

Amazing! Two of us enjoyed delicious rabbit entree & French Onion soup & it was fabulous! Neither of us have had rabbit before but we took a chance & loved it. The soup was incredible as well.
Service was delightful & the outdoor seating was quaint & lovely. We would highly recommend this restaurant to friends & family.

A beautiful, quaint restaurant with a unique menu. Every dish we tried was perfectly executed, making this our favorite meal in Quebec so far. We recommend the rabbit pot pie! We will definitely be returning on our next visit

The cassoulet w/ duck sausage & rabbit leg was amazing, as was the rabbit saddle, the fondue, & maple creme brulee. Our waitress was very nice & attentive. Can't wait to come back soon!

Rabbit was overcooked & very dry. Vegetables were also a bit of a mess. The tables were so close I could have eaten my neighbors dinner. Not to worry however as it didn't look any better than mine. Onion soup was a poor presentation of the French standard.

Le Lapin Sauté was highly recommended & it did not disappoint. The staff was very friendly & provided excellent suggestions. We had a rabbit & duck sample dish with potatoes, carrots, different sauces & the rabbit & duck were fixed different ways. I had a recommended white eine. We ended with the honey pie with creme. Everything was delicious. We had a wonderful time.

Quaint & cozy restaurant for Dinner. Great for couples but not or two pair but not larger groups. The rabbit, duck, French onion soup & the selection of drinks were very good.

Cozy restaurant with friendly staff. The food is good. We had the saddle of rabbit & rabbit pot pie as mains & both were delicious. Appetizers of smoked duck & the onion soup were also good.
