About

Le Lapin Sauté centers its culinary focus on regional French preparations featuring rabbit as a signature element. The menu emphasizes locally sourced ingredients transformed through classic market cooking techniques. Diners encounter dishes like rabbit confit and braised cuts that showcase depth of flavor and traditional preparation methods. The architectural space utilizes exposed stone walls and wooden beams to define the interior atmosphere. Tables occupy a rustic environment that reflects a historical regional building style. The selection of poultry and game selections provides a cohesive narrative centered on seasonal offerings and farm to table sensibilities. Every plate maintains a strict adherence to authentic regional standards by highlighting the versatility of game meat in modern kitchen applications.

Review Summary

Le Lapin Sauté is widely celebrated as a charming, cozy, and quintessential destination in Old Quebec City, particularly favored for its authentic rabbit and duck specialties. Many visitors praise the restaurant for its warm, welcoming staff, impeccable service, and a picturesque patio perfect for people watching in the Petit Champlain district. While the majority of diners highlight the high quality of dishes like the rabbit poutine, cassoulet, and salted honey pie, some guests have noted inconsistencies in food preparation, occasional service delays, or a preference for larger portion sizes. Despite the high demand making reservations essential, most guests consider it a must-visit venue that captures a unique, intimate atmosphere suitable for families and romantic outings alike.

We had an exceptional time at Le Lapin Sauté! We had the special option with both rabbit in several forms, & duck confit. In addition, they were very accommodating for gluten-free options, even having a separate menu. We had such a wonderful experience, & hope we can come back in the future.

The "Crazy Rabbit 🐰" is a cozy place where to eat slowly enjoying the moment. For the ones who loves whiskey 🥃, the drink choice is Old Quebec

Would definitely recommend to visit & book reservations in advance! Just know they only serve breakfast on weekends! We wanted to go for breakfast, but we ended up having lunch- either way it was very delicious ! dessert was also amazing! The honey pie & sweet potato dessert was yummy! Rabbit was also perfect! As well as the shared appetizer!! Wish we could go back but it is super busy 😀

Amazing restaurant. Small & intimate. Service is very personal & the staff were warm & engaging. Food was delicious. Meals were unique & made rabbit taste like a new dish completely. Order the salted honey pie at the end of your meal, you will not regret it! This place is a must visit!

Awesome! Super! Magnifique! There's a good reason this place is packed with three seatings, on a Wednesday, in Québec, in nearly November. The rabbit pot pie is a must, & not heavy, at all. Wonderful flavors. I started with the smoked duck breast served with an amazing grainy mustard & jam. A very crisp Québec white, Les Petits Cailloux was enjoyed with it all. Dessert was a salted honey pie, which was somewhat life-changing & had me looking for a recipe as soon as I arrived back at my apartment. I loved my wonderful serveuse for putting up with my broken French. A lovely experience.

The ambiance & food was amazing & just as I expected from Quebec City. Our waitress gave excellent recommendations. I highly recommend the chocolate ganache dessert, rabbit poutine, & foie gras!
