About

Le Lapin Sauté centers its culinary focus on regional French preparations featuring rabbit as a signature element. The menu emphasizes locally sourced ingredients transformed through classic market cooking techniques. Diners encounter dishes like rabbit confit and braised cuts that showcase depth of flavor and traditional preparation methods. The architectural space utilizes exposed stone walls and wooden beams to define the interior atmosphere. Tables occupy a rustic environment that reflects a historical regional building style. The selection of poultry and game selections provides a cohesive narrative centered on seasonal offerings and farm to table sensibilities. Every plate maintains a strict adherence to authentic regional standards by highlighting the versatility of game meat in modern kitchen applications.

Review Summary

Le Lapin Sauté is widely celebrated as a charming, cozy, and quintessential destination in Old Quebec City, particularly favored for its authentic rabbit and duck specialties. Many visitors praise the restaurant for its warm, welcoming staff, impeccable service, and a picturesque patio perfect for people watching in the Petit Champlain district. While the majority of diners highlight the high quality of dishes like the rabbit poutine, cassoulet, and salted honey pie, some guests have noted inconsistencies in food preparation, occasional service delays, or a preference for larger portion sizes. Despite the high demand making reservations essential, most guests consider it a must-visit venue that captures a unique, intimate atmosphere suitable for families and romantic outings alike.

a quaint & cozy restaurant. would recommend making reservations ahead of time. i was lucky to get a table walking in on a monday evening. food wise, everyone says french onion soup was good but maybe it’s just not my thing. it was lukewarm, which is a bit weird. & it was too salty. for the warm salad with rabbit kidneys & livers, i liked everyone in this dish except for the rabbit livers & kidneys. but it’s probably just me, not on the restaurant. however i cannot imagine better purée / dressing & potatoes for this salad, very tasty, light in flavor profile but good portion for the stomach! the salad itself is worth a 5/5.

We first made a 6pm reservation but had to postpone it to 8pm due to a flight delay by Air Canada. The staff was very friendly & assisted us with the last minute change. Upon arrival, the restaurant was very busy but we were given a table shortly.

My wife & i ordered the shared plate & it was delicious! We added duck sausage & we highly recommend it.

We loved our experience at Le Lapin Sauté! We began with the Quebec Discoveries shared appetizers - every morsel was delicious! We both ordered the pan-seared trout. Crispy skin, filet set atop a bounty of roasted carrots & haricots verts, & a scrumptious puréed squash. We finished with the salted honey pie, which was to die for! Highly recommended!
