Review Summary

Le Lapin Sauté is widely celebrated as a charming, cozy, and quintessential destination in Old Quebec City, particularly favored for its authentic rabbit and duck specialties. Many visitors praise the restaurant for its warm, welcoming staff, impeccable service, and a picturesque patio perfect for people watching in the Petit Champlain district. While the majority of diners highlight the high quality of dishes like the rabbit poutine, cassoulet, and salted honey pie, some guests have noted inconsistencies in food preparation, occasional service delays, or a preference for larger portion sizes. Despite the high demand making reservations essential, most guests consider it a must-visit venue that captures a unique, intimate atmosphere suitable for families and romantic outings alike.

Service impeccable.

Truely a delicious little restaurant! Atmosphere was lovely & rustic, food was both unique & beautifully presented. Nearly every dish involves some form of rabbit meat, & (from what we had) was prepared simply yet tastefully.

Ordered the Tout Lapin Tout Canard which proved to be half charcuterie type meats & half duck & rabbit legs over puréed carrots & a rhubarb greens base. Was fantastic for sharing between two or three. Also pictured is the Summer salad, beautifully presented with corn sprouts & small flowers but nothing exceptional. Also ordered the fondue but would not recommend (strangely not cheesy).

Overall certainly worth stopping by for a lunch or dinner, restaurant was almost empty on Saturday afternoon. A bit pricey, but also flawlessly located. Very well presented/marketed, met expectations but didn't exceed them.

Very disappointing experience.

Shortly after we entered the restaurant, we accidentally knocked a fork off a table. From that point on, the service attitude seemed to change noticeably. When tea was served, it was placed on the table in a manner that felt unnecessarily rough & unfriendly.

We ordered a set meal, but after finishing our food, our plates remained on the table for a long time without being cleared. We also noticed staff looking in our direction & appearing to discuss us, which made us feel uncomfortable & unwelcome.

As Asian customers, the overall experience left us feeling that we were being treated differently from other guests. Whether this was intentional or not, the service felt disrespectful & unprofessional.

Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this restaurant based on our experience.

Le Lapin Sauté absolutely lived up to its reputation. Everything we ordered was excellent, from the rich French onion soup & foie gras to the rabbit poutine, rabbit pot pie, & rabbit roulade. Each dish was flavorful, perfectly prepared, & showcased rabbit in a different way.

The atmosphere was warm, inviting, & very intimate-it's a small space that probably can't accommodate more than 20 people. The service was friendly & attentive, & the whole experience felt quintessentially Québécois.

Highly recommended!

We asked if we could come in for dessert & coffee later in the evening. The host seated us as there was an open table. After we sat down ready to look at the menu, the host returned & asked us to leave as the server refused to serve us unless we were having dinne

Wonderful experience in a small, intimate setting. If you're looking for an authentic, Old Quebec experience, this is the place.

Not worthed the hype. First of all, the service was so slow - took 15 minutes to order, 45 minutes to be served & about 2 hours to leave since they wouldn't bring the check. Waiters are nice but service is poor. Second, the food was so bland & lightly uncooked - they insisted the food should be like that but have tried more cooked in other spots. We all had stomach issues after eating it. The only good thing was the dessert. Finally, the food was pricey but lacking good service & quality. Looked promising but bad experience overall.
