About

Le Lapin Sauté centers its culinary focus on regional French preparations featuring rabbit as a signature element. The menu emphasizes locally sourced ingredients transformed through classic market cooking techniques. Diners encounter dishes like rabbit confit and braised cuts that showcase depth of flavor and traditional preparation methods. The architectural space utilizes exposed stone walls and wooden beams to define the interior atmosphere. Tables occupy a rustic environment that reflects a historical regional building style. The selection of poultry and game selections provides a cohesive narrative centered on seasonal offerings and farm to table sensibilities. Every plate maintains a strict adherence to authentic regional standards by highlighting the versatility of game meat in modern kitchen applications.

Review Summary

Le Lapin Sauté is widely celebrated as a charming, cozy, and quintessential destination in Old Quebec City, particularly favored for its authentic rabbit and duck specialties. Many visitors praise the restaurant for its warm, welcoming staff, impeccable service, and a picturesque patio perfect for people watching in the Petit Champlain district. While the majority of diners highlight the high quality of dishes like the rabbit poutine, cassoulet, and salted honey pie, some guests have noted inconsistencies in food preparation, occasional service delays, or a preference for larger portion sizes. Despite the high demand making reservations essential, most guests consider it a must-visit venue that captures a unique, intimate atmosphere suitable for families and romantic outings alike.

Bien situé, personnel authentique & serviable, terrasse un peu moyenne car le parc est pas très jolie. La nourriture est chère & pas exceptionnelle

Food poisoning. My dish was lukewarm & the other diner's dish had cold vegetables & lukewarm meat. Spent the night either in the bathroom or in bed trying to ignore to ignore the nausea.

I would normally rate this restaurant three stars, because the food is fine but nothing special. However, my experience with the service brought the rating down.
At the beginning I was served by a waiter who was friendly, attentive, & genuinely professional - he definitely deserved a tip. Unfortunately, the service changed completely when a waitress took over.
She brought me a bill that was $20 higher than it should have been, even though the menu clearly states at the top that you can combine items into a special set menu at a fixed price. When I pointed this out, she gave me an unconvincing explanation about taking over the table from her colleague.
What made the situation worse was her reaction when I chose not to leave a tip after this mistake. She started lecturing me about how'this isn't Europe' & that service isn't included here. For the record: servers in Canada earn twice as much as in my part of Europe (not counting tips), & yet I've never seen a European server demand a tip after overcharging a customer.
Overall, decent food, but the inconsistency in service & the attitude I encountered were disappointing.
