About

Le Lapin Sauté centers its culinary focus on regional French preparations featuring rabbit as a signature element. The menu emphasizes locally sourced ingredients transformed through classic market cooking techniques. Diners encounter dishes like rabbit confit and braised cuts that showcase depth of flavor and traditional preparation methods. The architectural space utilizes exposed stone walls and wooden beams to define the interior atmosphere. Tables occupy a rustic environment that reflects a historical regional building style. The selection of poultry and game selections provides a cohesive narrative centered on seasonal offerings and farm to table sensibilities. Every plate maintains a strict adherence to authentic regional standards by highlighting the versatility of game meat in modern kitchen applications.

Review Summary

Le Lapin Sauté is widely celebrated as a charming, cozy, and quintessential destination in Old Quebec City, particularly favored for its authentic rabbit and duck specialties. Many visitors praise the restaurant for its warm, welcoming staff, impeccable service, and a picturesque patio perfect for people watching in the Petit Champlain district. While the majority of diners highlight the high quality of dishes like the rabbit poutine, cassoulet, and salted honey pie, some guests have noted inconsistencies in food preparation, occasional service delays, or a preference for larger portion sizes. Despite the high demand making reservations essential, most guests consider it a must-visit venue that captures a unique, intimate atmosphere suitable for families and romantic outings alike.

Everything about our experience was exceptional. Our server Delphine was lovely & super helpful when it came to selecting a wine that best accompanied our meal. She also checked jn frequently & was so friendly. The food was incredible. We chose to share 3 appetizers & each was better than the last. There are so many unique menu items that this was a way to try different things. Our server spaced out our appetizers which made it feel like a 3 course meal & she was generous with the complimentary bread. We look forward to returning again!

The fondue & Lapin rillette were delicious to start. All entrees were amazing...highlights were Lapin pot pie & seafood cassoulet. Don't skip the salted honey pie. So good! Our server Delphine was delightful. Thank you for a nice evening!

Our first time at restaurant, beautiful quaint setting.
Food was tasty but not exceptional.
Our waitress was pleasant & welcoming but did not explain menu options, fast in bringing wine but slow on bread.

Excellente table ! Super service de notre serveuse. Les agencements de plats qu'elle nous a recommandé étaient parfaits. Le pâté de foie était simplement sublime. Une belle soirée au Lapin Sauté...

We loved it--the restaurant & the food. Yes, we were a little anxious about a heavy-on-rabbit menu, but my sister-in-law raves about La Lapin Saute, eats there every chance she gets, & ordered/commanded/urged us to "at least give it a try," & we're very happy we did. Got the last two reservations available on our last night in Quebec City. Phew! Friendly staff, great ambience, & wonderful food. Enjoyed a mixed platter appetizer, onion soup, rabbit pot pies, & creme brule. Saddest part? The meal came to an end. Hope to return someday.
