About

Le Lapin Sauté centers its culinary focus on regional French preparations featuring rabbit as a signature element. The menu emphasizes locally sourced ingredients transformed through classic market cooking techniques. Diners encounter dishes like rabbit confit and braised cuts that showcase depth of flavor and traditional preparation methods. The architectural space utilizes exposed stone walls and wooden beams to define the interior atmosphere. Tables occupy a rustic environment that reflects a historical regional building style. The selection of poultry and game selections provides a cohesive narrative centered on seasonal offerings and farm to table sensibilities. Every plate maintains a strict adherence to authentic regional standards by highlighting the versatility of game meat in modern kitchen applications.

Review Summary

Le Lapin Sauté is widely celebrated as a charming, cozy, and quintessential destination in Old Quebec City, particularly favored for its authentic rabbit and duck specialties. Many visitors praise the restaurant for its warm, welcoming staff, impeccable service, and a picturesque patio perfect for people watching in the Petit Champlain district. While the majority of diners highlight the high quality of dishes like the rabbit poutine, cassoulet, and salted honey pie, some guests have noted inconsistencies in food preparation, occasional service delays, or a preference for larger portion sizes. Despite the high demand making reservations essential, most guests consider it a must-visit venue that captures a unique, intimate atmosphere suitable for families and romantic outings alike.

Tout était parfait ! Le repas & le service.
La poutine à l'effiloché de canard est excellente.
Poussez la porte, vous ne serez pas déçus !

Our family loved this place. The three course meal for the kids was a great value as well.

Bugs & Daffy may not approve, & I was cautious, but this Old Quebec restaurant served up all it promised & more. Hop to it!

There is no parking available; my family & I had our car parked at our hotel & we walked all the way there. There is also indoor & outdoor seating options available!

The service was great, our server was very kind & helped answer any questions. The poutine was better than I was expecting! The cheese was incredibly squeaky when I bit down into them, so it made the experience of tasting my meal all the more better. The meat didn't taste too dry or was too chewy, it was just right!

For the fruit sodas: make sure to stir your drink before consuming it, since all of the flavor is at the very bottom.

We chose Le Lapin Sauté for dinner last night based on its excellent reputation & booked a table for our family of four at 8:00 pm.

After waiting 30 minutes to be seated despite having a reservation, we were placed at what was arguably the worst table on the terrace, squeezed into a corner against a stone wall. The metal tables & chairs are not particularly comfortable to begin with, & in that location it was even worse.

Almost immediately after we sat down, a much more comfortable table for four became available. I politely asked the hostess if we could move, but she simply said it wasn't possible. The disappointing part is that the table remained empty for the rest of the evening until we left.

As a result, we spent the entire dinner feeling cramped & uncomfortable, more eager to leave than to enjoy what should have been a special evening at such a highly recommended restaurant.

The food was good, but hospitality is about much more than food. It's about making guests feel welcome & valued. Your staff had every opportunity to improve our experience with a simple gesture, yet chose not to.

What should have been a wonderful memory of Le Lapin Sauté became a disappointing one because of the way we were treated. I hope this feedback is taken constructively. Customer satisfaction isn't just about what's on the plate-it's about ensuring guests leave happy, especially when making that happen is so easy.
