About

Le Lapin Sauté centers its culinary focus on regional French preparations featuring rabbit as a signature element. The menu emphasizes locally sourced ingredients transformed through classic market cooking techniques. Diners encounter dishes like rabbit confit and braised cuts that showcase depth of flavor and traditional preparation methods. The architectural space utilizes exposed stone walls and wooden beams to define the interior atmosphere. Tables occupy a rustic environment that reflects a historical regional building style. The selection of poultry and game selections provides a cohesive narrative centered on seasonal offerings and farm to table sensibilities. Review Summary

Le Lapin Sauté is widely celebrated as a charming, cozy, and quintessential destination in Old Quebec City, particularly favored for its authentic rabbit and duck specialties. Many visitors praise the restaurant for its warm, welcoming staff, impeccable service, and a picturesque patio perfect for people watching in the Petit Champlain district. While the majority of diners highlight the high quality of dishes like the rabbit poutine, cassoulet, and salted honey pie, some guests have noted inconsistencies in food preparation, occasional service delays, or a preference for larger portion sizes. Despite the high demand making reservations essential, most guests consider it a must-visit venue that captures a unique, intimate atmosphere suitable for families and romantic outings alike.

Absolutely wonderful! Loved the quaint & cozy atmosphere. The food was delicious. I had The rabbit pot pie & my husband had the pork. The cheese fondue was the best I've ever had & our server was fun, gave us great recommendations & was attentive.

Always a hit! French Onion soup is the best in town, plus can't miss the Rabbit Poutine…try the mustard sauce. I stop in each visit to Quebec City - p.s. try the Vin Chaud if you're there in the winte

Service impeccable. Dans une petite salle, lorsque la table voisine comporte des convives bruyants c'est désagréable !
La cuisse de lapin parfaite , celle du canard trop sèche.
Option de vin sans alcool serait appréciée . Les mocktails étaient délicieux.

Very small place. But the food was good & service was great. Wasn't big fun of the pie & soup (it was warm), but the rest was good. Would come back try other dishes!

Terrible meal. We had the platter for 2. Both the duck & rabbit were overcooked & very dry. We suspected they were leftovers from day before. Green beans were limp & again we suspected they were leftovers.

Le Lapin Sauté is a true gem in Old Québec. Cozy, charming, & full of character, it serves outstanding French-Québécois cuisine with rabbit & duck as highlights. The dishes are rich & comforting, the service is warm & attentive. A must-visit spot in Petit-Champlain - reservations recommended.

Small location so make sure to book ahead of time if possible. Food was delicious, atmosphere was very cozy. Location is great, bottom of break neck steps. Lots of shops nearby. I ordered the Eggs Benedict Rabbit Confit & it was amazing. My wife ordered the avocado toast with smoke salmon & it was delicious as well. Would highly recommend this location & plan on returning the next time we visit Quebec City.
