Review Summary

Le Lapin Sauté is widely celebrated as a charming, cozy, and quintessential destination in Old Quebec City, particularly favored for its authentic rabbit and duck specialties. Many visitors praise the restaurant for its warm, welcoming staff, impeccable service, and a picturesque patio perfect for people watching in the Petit Champlain district. While the majority of diners highlight the high quality of dishes like the rabbit poutine, cassoulet, and salted honey pie, some guests have noted inconsistencies in food preparation, occasional service delays, or a preference for larger portion sizes. Despite the high demand making reservations essential, most guests consider it a must-visit venue that captures a unique, intimate atmosphere suitable for families and romantic outings alike.

A lovely experience with fabulous food. If you are in Quebec it's well worth visiting. Rabbit is on too few menus where we are from in the US. It was such a treat!

Les tables sur la terrasse sont très petites, même pour deux personnes, pour un souper avec l'assiète partagée.

Terrace seating was great. Food & service were good. Both the rabbit & duck confit were tasty but a little dry. Enjoyed the live music from the alley.

We were looking for something very French to try this time visiting Quebec City. & we found this. Overall a nice experience. The service was good. The decor was so nice & wonderful it added so much to the experience. Plus it is located at a very quaint street with lots of beautiful buildings & little stores. We didn’t have a reservation. It was Friday supper time. We arrived early & only had to wait for less than 10 minutes to get a table. We took that time & had a stroll on the street. They texted us when the table was ready which was very nice.
Now the food. Based on the reviews we wanted to try the duck & rabbit platter which included everything we wanted to try as in the photo. Everything else was so tasty including the sliced duck meat. But the duck & rabbit meat (second photo) were just so so. It was plain & a bit dry. I understand rabbit meat is very lean. So I guess it is what it is. The original flavor & texture. The platter is 74 dollars (or around 74 ) if I remembered correctly. It is definitely one of the most expensive meals I had. Also compared to the portion of the meal. Which was pretty small. Overall not the one of most impressive meals I had.

As I was in Quebec City, I intended to experience something local & authentic. The staff in the restaurant advised me to try out the renowned duck & rabbit dishes. I went with the Tout lapin tout canard (Raised rabbit leg, duck leg confit, rabbit rillettes, duck foie gras terrine, smoked duck breast, roasted garlic, vegetables, roasted potatoes, bread croutons & marinade) It was a dish for first-time tourists like myself. I also ordered the Rabbit Poutine along with it. It will be a completely new & surprising taste for your taste buds. It depends from person to person if they will like it or not. Overall, it was a wonderful experience that I thoroughly enjoyed. Something intriguing to discover!

EXCELLENT restaurant.
Notre restaurant incontournable!
