The house dates back to 1675, & is now a historical landmark. The exterior features a very traditional French house that is painted red & white. The interior walls are decorated with carved art pieces, & the ceiling lights shine through stained glass windows. The lunch special is a very good deal, which comes with a drink, bread & butter, a starter, a main dish, & a dessert. With extra fees you have the choice of upgraded dishes. The Lac St Jean Meat Pie is a unique dish made with bison, deer, elk, beef & pork filling. If you're down for the culinary adventure, this dish would be the perfect choice during cold days. The crust is buttery, flaky, & pairs well with the meat filling. The tomato fruit sauce on the side is homemade, & you can taste the tomato chunks along with its sweet & sour flavour profile. The maple syrup pie is another one of their signature desserts. The filling is very sweet, but the cream on top is unsweetened, which tones down the sweetness of the syrup. However, if you feel like something fruity, they also have other options such as a blueberry pie. Overall, a nice dinning experience, & the place was not super busy during a Friday late afternoon.
Truly exceptional for game meats. A traditional French Canadian restaurant. Great service. Maple Crème Brûlée a treat👍👍 Skip lunch to enjoy it all!!
A little pricey because they cater to tourists but not in an exploitative way - the food is indeed very good. Great way to get acquainted with traditional Canadien cuisine, which is very heavy & best enjoyed in colder weather. Nice atmosphere in a building dating back 300+ years.
Home-style traditional Canadian food. Very good service (Merci, Samuel) Generous portions & meat-centric. We loved the pea soup, beef bourguignon, & coulibiac.
Legendary traditional Quebec food that we look forward to every time we visit Quebec! Not a bad bite on the menu. Standouts are Bison bourguignon, lobster bisque & maple bread pudding. Our waiter Sam was the best. Highly recommend!
WOW! What a delightful evening of authentic & scrumptious local traditionally prepared food. The waitress was pure perfection, she knows how to serve a room with efficiency & friendly service. The food was perfect in every way & the Bison Fondue was out of this world. A must for lunch or dinner!!!
This restaurant offers traditional Quebec cuisine, with dishes like poutine & meat pie delivering the expected authentic flavors. It's highly recommended for those looking to experience traditional-style cooking. Besides the food, the decor & dining environment are also impressive. The building & wall paintings appear to have many years of history, & the classic menus & plates enhance the dining experience. Additionally, the service is very elegant, & the prices are reasonable, ensuring you leave satisfied & not hungry.
My friends & I went for dinner/supper there during our visit to Québec City, & we had a great time. The food was delicious, good portions, very decent price (with their Table d'Hôte, which even includes a glass of red or white wine). It was also great to taste various traditional Québec terroir dishes! The hosts/waiters were all very nice, & helpful, making sure we understood the menu. This restaurant is also a nice experience because of the building it's in. Definitely worth going there if you visit Québec city!
The atmosphere fit the vibe they were going. Food was traditional, & the desserts were really good but the meals were a little unseasoned because Canadians I guess don't have much seasoning. Crème brûlée was so good & so was the pie.
Very good experience with tasty traditional food & good staff with their recommendations.
